Water fuel separator filter

Just wondering what brand if any y'all use. The inline filter just is not enough. Have some water in the fuel tank I guess.

I just run a mercriuser style filter seperator type. You can get them at any marine store. It uses a spin-off cartridge like an oil filter, and replacements are available from Napa. I just spinn mine off every so often and dump it, checking for water. Hopefully often enough that it does not fill up with water.

Sometimes I do get water out of it.

If it's wet, I replace it.

Some run racor type filter seperators. They are expensive, but the best.

Others may know of better options than I do.

I used to use the glass bowl type separater like ya used to see on farm tractors. I have no clue where or even IF you can still find them now days. Maybe someone on the forum might know where.

Since I'll be building come January I'd like to know as well.

My boy says that you can run a fuel filter sideways instead of vertical and it is then also a water separator.

Check this site out Scotty.
They look to have large deep bowls on some models. Bigger the better.
Those filter seperators I use are bigger than a sediment bowl, so it has some amount of water storge capacity, before it gets too full, and lets water get past.

But you can see through glass!

Why not build your boat in August, with the sweat dripping in your eyes?

Thanks Cowboy ! I bookmarked it. Thats exactly what I used, looks to be the same manufacturer even.

August is too soon, Ill still be here in the desesrt. Just hopeing we dont go nuts on Iran and have to push my plans back ! UGH!

I have been using Racor seperators from Boat US. They have worked well for me on the grass and offshore. Very dependable!!

NO H2O !!!

Whitebear, i used to buy those filters from the Case tractor dealer in Belle Glade, Glade and Grove. They were made by fleetguard.

Hard to beat those Racors, easy to change and even easy to find. I store my AV gas in 55gall drums and never seem to keep all the water out, even covered and stored dry. My racor has saved me a few times. Next time someone changes one smell the filter and tell me what you think it smells like..
