Waterthunder, What is a ballpark price for an LS6 engine from GM? Also, do you think a hurricane Katrina flooded car with one in it would be salvagable. There is a yard not far from the house that has thousands of cars, trucks, motorcycles that were towed out of New Orleans that can be bidded on. Seems like a rebuild would fix all issues on an aluminum engine. Can you run a carb on these things or do you have to use fuel injection?

A LS1 out of a Camaro,GTO or Vette will work fine. Try to find a 99 or newer the 98 and earlier have a few issues. Check the bore of the motor because you can't bore these motors much. 95% of all the airboat LS1's I build are carbureted. All the engineers and airboat manufactures will tell you fuel injection is better because it's new or state of the art. The airboat manufactures like fuel injection because that's what the crate motors come with. Me personally I like a $325 carburetor over a computer, throttle position sensor, map sensor, ECU, fuel injectors and O2 sensors. Because no matter what ever happens to my carb I will make it back in and if I ever sink my boat I don't have too replace $2,000 worth of fuel injection parts, plus the fact the carb makes more power!

I have Already have sunk 2 boats one was a 220GPU. I came down a dike and the bow never came back up and then a 406SBC Hammant because somebody ran right into the back off my boat and collapsed my transom and destroyed my boat. I have a saying there are two types of air boaters ones who have sunk their boat and ones who lie and say the haven't.
