waterthunder's 4.3 v6

hey waterthunder i'm playing around with the idea of one of those little 300hp v6 chevys on a 13 ft hull(don't know what kind yet).how much for one of these little beasts you build ready to run?what kind of gearbox (ratio) works best?

Are you looking at the ones that is in the Grand Prix?

Those are sweet. Can really produce HP (at least to me) for a V6. I have seen two of them tuned up alittle and they were nice.

I would run the 2.68 ratio gearbox with a Sensenich 3 blade 78" prop. Those V/6’s run strong when they produce 350 plus Horsepower. A word of advice don't listen to usual airboat theories of torque cams and dual plan intakes with these motors and run the biggest dam single plane intake you can find. I run the Edelbrock single plan. Everyone will tell you not to, I will not go into details but the V/6's have an odd intake pulse due to the motors design so you must run more duration in your camshaft and more intake plenum than everybody thinks. Me and Felber chased our tails for sometime trying to figure that one out.

So what size hull would be right for a 4.3 V6, and how much do they weigh?? Which weighs more an 0540 or a 4.3 V6 with a gear box??

A O540 hull is what you need for a V/6 they weigh about the same. The extra horsepower will make a small hull ride on the nose. The two nasty 400HP V/’s I built one went on a Hammant hull and the other went on a Colusa. They burned up the hill and both were very fast in the water.
