Website having some problems this morning...

Finally seems to be back to normal.

Turned out to be some kind of an attack from ip addresses from hong kong that was overloading the server. Soon as we banned all hong kong ip's, we got things under control.

Always something trying to get to you on the internet

Yep, my own sites are under constant attack. Hundreds to thousands of times per day attempts are made to compromise them.

All originate from China / Asia

It's disgusting and sad at the same time.

Glad you got it sorted. Just leave that area of the world blocked permanently. We dont need them, that's for sure.

Thanks for all you do as well.

:salute: :usa:

Yep, they're like misquotes and SA is like a screened in shack in the Everglades at dark...they're there buzzin around looking for any crack to enter lol.

Need to build a wall around China. We can use the Great Wall as a starting point.
I like the way you put that

If you ever want help transferring to xenforo I'd be happy to help. It really is worth the cost

Thanks Aeon. I will definitely keep your offer in mind.

I actually bought, installed, and ran a conversion script to xenforo earlier this year to test. It just got to be a little more than I could handle at the time so I put it on the back burner.

If I remember right, the main obstacles were custom templates to make it look like the home page, a bridge script to wordpress with shortcodes & widgets to add recent posts throughout the site, and forum member ranks...there may have been more.

I'm no expert web builder, but have built SA into a fairly complicated site with phpbb bridged to wordpress, along with custom templates.

The site problems today were dns related. Thought I was ready to pull the switch to move SA to a more affordable server, then realized I wasn't ready & chickened out and changed dns back to the older server...my bad on that one lol.

Propagation throughout the internet hasn't completely happened yet, but it's close I think.
