Wednesday: Rebuilt Bud's mags,timed motor & opened carb

Here is Wednesdays progress on Bud's motor. These mags took a lot of work to get them to the condition they are now. I glassbeaded the mag housings washed them and dipped them in gold Alodine for corrosion protection. Put new points,capacitors,seals, one new coil, greased the bearings, shimmed the end play. I Rebuilt the magnetos through all the steps as I would any other set. I primed them with Green Zinc Chromate and sprayed them Gloss Black. Then I installed them in the engine and set the timing. I also looked in the carb and it will need at least a new accelerator pump. The one in there looks like it was homemade from some rubber.

Bud's going to flip when he sees his motor I bet it was never that nice you really put a lot of attention to detail !!!!
