Weekend weather

Hey ya'll,

Anybody watching the weather?

Got my eyes glued to the weather channel for the approaching "tropical " front arriving here this Thursday or Friday.

Seems we will be "running" as fast as we can to get out of South Florida. Hope it won't be a factor for the ride!

As far as right now they have a 30% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday. They say here that we should have rain on Thursday and Friday but that is a good thing. More water out in the marsh. But I am keeping an eye on it myself.

I am hoping the weather does cooperate with us. Just pray that this storm goes way south.

Overcast is good in a way because not so hot and sunburned. A little rain is ok too from my point of view because I have pretty good comfortable rain gear. Looks like it is a good idea to pack a tarp and/or some other rain gear though.... just in case.

Lightning... I'm staying in shelter till clear to go for sure.

Often with these tropical systems we get a lot of clouds, a little rain, and hardly any lightning. So I'm looking forward to the day.

:)

Yeah I can handle the rain as well. It looks like it is just going to be rain. But just hope it goes farther south or moves alot faster and is gone by Saturday.

This system could stall and wind would be a major factor. Firsts reports I'm getting is 8 in. of rain in Palm Beach county.

most of the run has trees on both sides of the canals so wind is not that big of problem here thats why I like going out from the aba for that reason your not in the river

Lets hope this is not a factor saturday, but if it looks like it by thursday maybe we will need a rain date. I hate to say it but it may be the facts.

Yeah something we need to think about but I would not make that decision until Friday. You know how Florida is.

Here is an update with all the models now. Let's hope it stays way to the south and does not take the green track. :x

I don't really like watching the weather channel. It's kinda like cnn..they don't know what they are saying 1/2 the time. But the local channels all show basically the same paths as Aces over 8's maps. I think we will be o.k. If we don't pull it off this weekend, I will be out of the loop for a while with military stuff up at Blanding.

We are set to come from Tampa and can change plans at the last minute if necessary. If anyone wants to convoy, IM me and we'll meet somewhere over on this side and ride over together.

I am bringing a life long freind / American war hero with me. 101st Airborne - Hamburger Hill / Vietnam survivor. He's had a tough time lately with Agent Orange poisoning. Reminds me every day of the Price of Freedom.

Here's another thought, maybe we can get ABA open if there is localized rain so we can wait it out a bit, then make the run.

Just watched the weather...they said that Katrina should hit south florida and pass over to the Gulf by Sat. morning. I think as far north as Melbourne is, we may only have to worry about a little rain and breesy conditions. I think we may just dodge this bullet

So Basketcase and others from south Florida will actually be evacuating the storm by attending the run!

And those from the north will have good traffic conditions for the drive down.

:D

Keeping an eye on the weather forecasts, but not overly worried about it. It's going to be a fun day!

I like that Matt. So true. Yeah maybe rain off and on but we really need to get everything together so Black can take all the troop stuff with him. Hopefully by SAturday night we will be ready to frog. Those of you who are staying Saturday night, we can run on Sunday. But we all have put alot of work in this, why let one little Tropical system ruin it? I have lived here for years and normally when they say we will get some rain we don't just the wind. I may be wrong this time but why not give it a shot?

I am going to be there Saturday morning as long as this storm doesn't go crazy and hit that area dead on. I think it will be ok and definitely better towards the evening and Sunday morning. As long as the wind isn't too bad (i.e. pushing down trees and such) I plan on camping still. Hope everybody decides to still come. If you do decide to wait till Sunday let me know before Saturday so I can coordinate to meet you if you plan on donating items or if you want to just ride.

Adam

Yeah, I keep watching and it still says that should be over Gulf on Saturday. Hope that is true. We will see in the next couple of days. I know normally when a storm has hit South Florida we have only gotten some wind. They only expect up to about 30 mph winds here and that is at times. But I know there are alot of trees that cover over where we ride and you cannot even tell there is any wind. But we will be here in full force and Adam if it gets too bad out there you can always camp out here.LOL

Thanks Ms. CC, I've spent the night in tents in the middle of 60MPH+ sandstorms and it isn't fun. Hopefully this weekend won't be like that!!!
