Checked the seas forecast yesterday afternoon, before heading off to class, looking good 1 to 2 feet. Woke up 0420 hrs and headed to Sand Sprit with my nephew to meet up with a buddy from work. Probably should have checked the conditions before leaving, but didn't. Hit the inlet and found it to be a bit bumpy, oh well, here we go . Heading out for a little high speed trolling, lines in at 0635 hrs. Get a bite at 0750 hrs in about 400 feet, appears to be a small fish, hooks pull . Approaching 0900 we head in and find a nice weedline in 100 feet. Set out 3 ballyhoo. Shortly we were tight on a dolphin. Get a couple jumps out of here and then my nephew says the reel won't turn . We start handlining while my buddy works on the reel. He gets is going sort of and by now the fish is tail wrapped but still coming in, gaffed and in the box (11 pounds on boga)
Set back up and shortly we're tight again, this time a cuda.
Troll a little while longer then pound in. Once again a good time had by all.
