Concerning not receiving Airboat World Magazine

Airboaters:

I understand that a lot of people aren’t getting their Airboat magazine subscription and companies who advertise in Airboat aren’t getting what they paid for.

I have been trying since June 6, 2006 to reach Terri Latner. The following phone number was disconnected 352-840-0083 as well as she does not respond to e-mails and/or letters. Recently, I got two new phone numbers from Panther Airboat: 352-465-8137 and 352-216-8116. Since August 2006 these voice messages have been full.
Currently, I have been in contact with Brian Edwards, we run together, and Brian agrees that we need to do something about this situation. Therefore, I contacted the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Services, 2005 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 2399-6500. Their phone number is : 850-488-2221 or 800-HELPFLA (435-7352) (FL ONLY). The web number is: http://www.800helpfla.com.
I sent in a two-year subscription to the magazine and haven’t received one issue. Terri also did not respond to my letters, phone messages or e-mails. If you feel that you are interested in doing something, please contact the Florida web site or me at fmfinlin@yahoo. Maybe, Terri will respond and/or be prosecuted.

mr. Frank,
I too did not receive my full subscription. I don't know Terri Latner or anyone assoiated with the mag.
I have read about this and just feel like they have had a bad run of luck. alot of people have lost money and you are right to try to recoupe what you have lost but to try to prosicute these people is kind of harsh isn't it?
I don't feel like they intentinally took my money, it's just that shit happens some time.
I cant give everybody their money back but if you want, send me a pm with your adress and i will send you the subscription price you paid just to keep the peace, so to speak.

Ya know life does suck sometimes and nO one is perfect It is just a book and I also feel like they did not intend for this and it was not planned. So let it go.

BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE SOME TIME.

I have no stake in this as I never sent in any subscription money but I think what has many people so upset is that fact that the publisher refuses to respond to inquiries about the situation.

I agree that bad things happen but I think whatever happened did so way back and yet they continued to advertise and accept subscriptions while being unable or unwilling to fulfill their part of the bargain.

I hope those who are involved on both sides can sort this mess out.....

These people are criminals and need to be put away. I spend 33 years with the Des Moines Police Department and worked the criminal fraud division for three years. If they had a problem they could easily have told people so. They did not. They continued to take money from people. They are as crooked as a dogs hind leg. They need to spend some time in jail to think about what they have done. I hate crooks and these people are crooks.

I never subscribed but if you want to send me money to get off their case, I'll gladly take it. I just hate crooks. Sorry, but, I spent 33 years putting these kind of people in jail and I hate to see soft head liberals say that it is all just bad luck. Bull. These people are criminals.

I agree I would LOVE to see these poeple in jail. They took my money and I got not 1 issue. They did have enough money to start a new magazine. They did take the advertizers money. They did put the magazines on the rack for more cash, but to the people who paid ahead SORRY.
I was wrong, not even sorry, just nothing but frustration.
I agree there are time sh** happens and I have no problem with that, BUT I don't think this time that is what happened, it was a "got ya". Let me know if you need more support I will be there.
Tim

At some point the problems with subscriptions became intentional and that is when they screwed people over.Good people who would put up with a lot of crap just because they are fellow airboaters.

What a shame. They couldn't go on and think they wouldn't have to pay could they(Terri Latner)?

I don't need my money back, but I would like to see a class action lawsuit that would simply bar them from publishing anything ever again.

They have already proven to me, and hopefully to a judge later, that they lack the personal responsibility needed to provide a subscription type service to the public.

There's 2 sides to every story but in this SIMPLE REDNECKS OPINION they have taken money from people and not provided the services that they agreed to ( supplying a product to the consumers once a month). Ifin I paid a Air Conditioning repair man to fix my AC and he never showed back up-"OH WELL HE HAS FALLEN ON BAD TIMES" WHAT ABOUT THE AUTO MECHANIC THAT TOOK MONEY FOR A TUNE UP AND NEVER DID IT" OH WELL ANOTHER PERSON THAT HAS FALLEN ON BAD TIMES" THE SHORT ORDER COOK THAT JUST TOOK $5 FOR THE BREAKFAST YOU ORDERED BUT DIDN'T GET- WOULD YOU JUST WALK AWAY WITH THE --THEY ARE JUST HAVING A BIT OF BAD LUCK ATTITUDE???
HECK NO YOU WOULDN'T JUST WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!!
I pride myself on the fact that customer service is #1 for me and my business. These people have STOLEN from myself and plenty of others!!!
All that was need was some communication from them to the subscribers
BUT THAT WAS NEVER DONE-BUT THEY DID CONTINUE TO CASH CHECKS FOR SERVICES NOT TENDERED THAT MAKES THEM THIEVES!!!! PERIOD!!!
Just this simple REDNECKS opinion! Anyone getting a class action LAWSUIT going against them please keep the rest of us informed about it. I'll be one of the first to partake!!!

Well said Safari.

Laura and I are on board with the class action suit.

There is a good point about the "fallen on hard luck" - and airboaters are to be commended for being a compassionate group of people! But that hard luck story carries little weight when she/they have a shining beautiful GTO airboat, and started that 4x4 mag up during the time that airboaters were not getting their mags in the mail - WHILE THEY WERE ON STORE SHELVES! And when many open allegations go completely unanswered, while rumours grow like mold in a moisture farm behind all of our backs.

The ABW situation is just a slap in the face to us.

It's not about the money, it's about the principle.... Terri, if you are reading this, you still have a chance to put out the fire by making a statement!!! GO PUBLIC!! Be honest and tell your story. I feel as if you stole from me, but I'm not worried about it. We got half a year's worth of mags. I feel so lucky because so many other got nothing.

I've not heard her give any hard luck stories from the horse's mouth. No story at all, and we assume it's hard luck. We don't know that.

She went to New Orleans, didn't she? :?: :?: :?: The rumors that are going around based on the answer to that question are astounding. They will not be repeated by me, but lead me to believe there could be something criminal going on here, possibly even at a federal level.

I'm not going to start a class action suit, but I'll support one. The whole thing is ridiculous.

The story of AirboatWorld DOES NOT set a good example for our children to learn from, or about airboaters in general. Nor does it set a good example of southerners or humanity in general.

I would like to thank all of you for responding to this problem.
It not the money, a lot of you are frustrated about not hearing from Terri Latner.
There is no excuse for not responding to the business and subscriber. Just taking there money is a criminal offence. If others of you feel this way please contact Department of Agriculture & Consumer services. There is power in numbers; if you contact me also I will try to get justice. If this dept will not act on are complaints I will try and find the property agency who will proceed, and take action. If Terri is committing a crime she should be punished. I will send all information you send me to the proper authorities.

Seems to me this would be consider mail fraud, I was considering going to the post office and filing a complaint. That is federal jurisdiction, thus a federal crime.

Okay,
To clarify what I said early on. I did not have all the info.YES THIS IS A CRIME and someting should be done.

To clarify what I posted earlier ....

Yes, they should be punished. They cheated dozens, maybe hundreds of us.
Do I think my life would be better if Terri Latner or her husband were sitting in a jail cell ? No, of course not. They haven't hurt me that much.

I do, however, think that they should be given a lesson in ethics that they won't soon forget.
Obviously if they had the kind of money that some who are posting believe they had the magazines would have probably been 'on-time'.
It is my belief that they mismanaged the money coming in for their magazine. That, in my mind, doesn't make them felons. It just makes them bad business people.

I think they should be forced to look for another way to make a living. That would work for me. A class action suit phrased like that would have my support.
