What about another Southern Airboat run?

Has anybody put any thought in about when and where the next Southern Airboat get together will be? My boat is just about back in good running order and I'd like to make a ride with everybody.

I'll put in a vote for the Kissimmee/Hatchineha/Cypress area.

we have been talking about melbourne on the 27th of aug before hunting season starts. you will fall in love with it here. alot of riding, not alot of deep water.you can ride north of 192 all day and not ride the same spot, and then you can run south of 192 and ride all day and not ride the same spot lot of cypress trees south and alot of oak trees north.

I'm always up to a new places to ride. Put it to a vote or just say it's there.
Just may stay the night before.

I hope to have my boat back running by then. I vote for a Melbourne run. I would love to run where I grew up at. Its been 30 years since I was on the St. Johns and up past the dam. We would run north up towards lake Winder to some hunt camps just off the Mormon canal. If the water was up, you could leave lake Washington and run the marsh all the way. Can you still do that?

Melbourne area sounds good to me. cchardt's been trying to get us there from the beginning. I think the only reason we haven't been there yet was because of the low water levels in early summer. We all know that's not a problem now.

If it's alright with everybody, I'll make a new forum to get the ball rolling.

yes we can run north river and go over the dam, could run the survey trail up to the oak head and to lake winder heck if you really want to we could run up to lone cabage and eat lunch. AND FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO FROG WE CAN DO THAT AND IF YOU WANT TO HANG OUT AND RUN ON SUNDAY WE CAN RUN SOUTH RIVER WE JUST NEED TO FIND OUT WHERE YOU ALL WANT TO RIDE. You can bring your tents and camp out on the marsh or there is a lot of motels right up the street with in a couple of miles, rick we need to take a poll to run north or south river. i'm fine with eather

I don't know anything about the area so it will all be fine with me. I've already lined up two other buddies to bring their boats as well.

hope to make this one myself. Why not lunch at Lopughman's? Bobby is sure supporting our airboater's fights. One way to say "Thank You". Why not stsrt and stop there?

bigdaddy thats a good ways up from melbourne there is alot of area here to ride they have things going on at all times up there, plus I don't know the area we have been trying to have a ride here sence the very first one, and also there is a lot of shallow water to ride.I'm just trying to have it before hunting season starts or we will have to wait untill after jan unless you want to get shot at  never can tell with those old timers

We usually ride all day here 8hrs and never ride the same trail thats only south and alot of cypress trees and great frogging alot of camp sites you can pull your boat up to. we can run till you want to go home. heck if you get here early enoungh on friday I have a lot of buddys that run just about all night on every friday. so that could make almost a 3 day run

I need all the info I can get! I maybe coming over Friday night so I don't have to get up early Saturday. Where are we meeting and how do I get there?
Camping isn't for me to hot this time of the year. so where will the nearest Hotel/Motel be if I do come over for the night? My stay Saturday night to.

I am with you mudpuppy I will be spendin the night as well but not in a tent. This time of year campin is done at the motel6 they leave the lights on for you LOL

OK Then. We'll do all we can to join this one.

Hope SAO plans to attend the Oct. FAA elections / meeting / ride down south the 2nd Sat in October as well. Broward if the 'Glades reopen - maybe Okeetantee if they don't. One of our own - Rick - may just find himself with an important new official task that day.

I'm with Cntry141IQ - no motels for this old Cracker when it's 90 outside. Turn the AC down and pull the covers up.

I would like to see a ride in the Steinhatchee area before scallop season goes out. We usually scallop in the morning til around noon, eat a guick lunch, then ride til dark. If you are a true airboater then you finish it off with all night gigging sheephead. And the reward is a cooler of sheephead and scallops to take home with you. ummm.ummm

Hi all,

Still on our Alaska trip. blew an engine on the motorhome in Fort St. John, been in a motel for a week. should be back in New Orleans by the middle the mounth.

Been trying to keep up with Southern chat. Sounds that the mounthly trips have been a sucess. Will ya'll allow a boy from La. to join ya'll in Melborne. Can come early and leave late to get as much riding in as possible.

Will there be motels to stay in? what regulations do the law pay attention to? Want to be legal.

Larry,

Look in the FORUM section. You'll see where Rick added a new thread. I believe CCHARDT has most of the particulars about the area. Hope to see you there.
