what do perfer

Stainless isn't as expensive as you think. Its a whole lot cheaper than that aluminum junk rigging that DiamondBack sells.

Wow T480, That one hard statement about DB. I personally have never seen any bad welding on there fabrication. I have been on alot of boats , 27 yrs in the navy. Deepsea diver. Seen all types of Al fabrication. I just don't see what you say. I do know many a person that has broken a weld here or there and when they brought it back for repaired DB took good care of then and repaired it for free, even when it was not in the scope of the warranty. Wow, you can't make them all happy!

Testosterone, reach back and pull out that wallet, open it up, take a good look at how thin it is. safely put it back in the old pocket. Go with the conduit for now, Bro. :D

and, you better go to Winn Dixie isle 5 and get you a can of 'MAN" before you go puttin "Testosterone " on that there boat, there young fella.

hey my local Winn Dixie it is on isle 3

personally I would go with aluminum if I had the cash or materials and maybe a Stainless engine stand but for now this conduct rigging will have to do for me

DD,I'm not saying there welds aren't good, there beautiful, its just aluminum won't take the stress an airboat puts it through,I have seen over 2 dozen Dback aluminum boats get ripped to shreds because the engine stand let go,and yes they have a good warranty, but that does not bring someone back when they get killed. Why do you think Alumitech and American Airboats don't sell boats with aluminum riggs.I have personally watched with about a dozen others one of there engine stands flex over 2 inchs.I know it would not stand up to the abuse I put my boat through. That's why I went with stainless, they will all break that's a given its just that aluminum is more prone to it.

T480, you are so right. Al is known to crack. If you have alot of torque and HP I would go with steel or SS.

Testosterone will be able to use Bamboo. :D

I have had very little problems with my aluminum rigging cracking no more than I have seen with dom or stainless. When it did break DB took care of it free of charge. When I build my next boat however it will be stainless or conduit because aluminum prices are way too high.

IM WITH YOU ON THE ENGINE STAND , I FEEL BETTER KNOWING THERES STEEL UNDER MY MOTOR , BUT AS FAR AS DIAMONDBACKS ALUMINUM RIGGIN IVE HAD IT ON MY BOAT AND I KNOW I HUNT AS HARD AND RUN AS MUCH DRY AS ANYONE ELSE AND IM A "BIG OLE FELLER" AND IT HELD UP WITH ME FINE , SINCE BOBBY WENT TO THE OVAL INSTEAD OF ROUND TUBEING ITS GOTTEN EVEN STRONGER... IM GONNA RUN IT AGAIN ON THE NEW BOAT IM BUILDING ..LIKE 480 SAID IT WILL ALL BREAK BUT BOBBY AND FRAN OUR GOOD FOLKS I THINK THEY WILL STAND BEHIND EVERYTHING THEY LET LEAVE THE SHOP..

10-4 on all said ,I just prefer stainless or square, and that aluminum rigging aint the lightest stuff either like most think.I know my stainless rig is right there with conduit and square tubing,Little John is building my new rig right now out of stainless and his warranty is as good as Dbacks but he is a whole lot cheaper.

DD,the new rig is being built as we speak, and I am pretty much computer illiterate I am doing good just to get on here.

Well do y'all think 1 inch conduit will hold up . That's all I have ever ran and those that know me will tell you I am not air boat friendly when it comes to hey y'all watch this .The older Ive became the more I have changed but still run hard with no worries

What about DOM? I used it for everything on the boat due to friends rec's. Think it ran about 2 to 3.50 dollars a foot depending on thickness (i used 5/8's and 3/4) and wall thickness. I think 140 linear feet went into my cage seat stand. DB built my motor stand but it looks like thick wall DOM not sure.
I personally like the bends in square tubing. If I didn't go with DOM I would have probably used square tubing for my seat stand. To me stainless is the cats meow. I am really scared of aluminum and considering how I don't think I would have saved enough weight to make it worth while. I did see some aluminum cages at DB when I picked up my boat they do VERY nice work without a doubt but your talking VERY high dollar.

Jpatter, the aluminum riggs that Dback builds are actually heavier and I can get polished stainless for 1.75 to 2.50 a foot and that is for 5/8,3/4 and 7/8.

I have Diamondback aluminum rigging on my boat. I run it hard in work and in play...I am known to go through ...rather than around. I have had no failures at all in my rigging.

IMO, many times it the person on the stick that fails and the rigging follows. Too many want to do full power 180's with big, heavy, high horsepower boats....time and again. No wonder..anything man made can fail...always will.

Hope your new rigging is all that you dream it will be.
