I think I found a used hull I want to buy. Its a 2000 hamant with poly, seat stand, cage, and trailer. Seems like a good deal so I will call tomorrow. I am thinking though that I will want to start out with a 125, I know it wont be a hill runner but how do you think it will do in the water? As I gain more experience I can sell and upgrade but do yall think it will be a good combo to learn and start out with? I have lots of friends with boats that can help me too. But since its late Ill start out here :) Thanks for any input good or bad.

Hammant's a good hull. How big is it??

Do you already have the motor?? It may be cheaper to just find a turn key boat and start with that.

12x7. I was thinking turn key too if the right deal came along. I like to tinker with things alot too though. I figured this would be a good learning experience.

Yeah I just have a problem of rushing into things though. Ill keep ya informed hehe.

I would really consider looking for a turn key boat to start with. Even though I'm not taking my own advice. I'm on my first build of 1st. airboat. the reason i say this is,I could have spent less than half on a turn key deal"IT WOULD BE NO DIAMOND" but I could be out there learning and deciding exactly what I want my boat to do. You can always get your money back out of a turn key deal and put it where you know you want it.
Just my 2cents and good luck keep us posted!

This is the best place for info though. if it this site did not exist i prolly wouldn't be so confident in my build. Lots of awesome advice and info here. if it can't be figured out on this site with this group of people. It can't be figured out.

I would recomend a turnkey boat reason being I just went through a project boat , turnkey might be a little more expensive and you will get what you want, that's what I just went through I am probably going to sell mine and look for a turnkey ride set up the way I want it

the 125 would not be my first choice of motor parts are hard to find and expensive so I would look for a o-320 150 h.p. they are still in production and parts are readily availible just my thoughts, good luck in whatever your decison.

Your not going to like the performance with that 125 on a 12x7 hull. You would be better off getting a small 10ft fiber glass hull and running that 125. It won't the best running dry boat, but with running by your self you should be able to get just about any where you want to go.

Widen your scope a bit, then look for the right deal.
if you get hung up on one motor you might miss some
good deals. 125's aint bad, but if you get a deal on
a 150, or 180 go for it. You don't have to keep your
foot in it all the time, maybe a 220 cont. lots cheaper
to keep running. What ever you get, shop around and
check in with these guys at S.A. they wont steer you wrong.
