What Motor?

I am new to airboating, and uneducated as to what boat and motor set-up would best suit my needs. Any help that could be provided would be appreciated. I basically want a boat that seats four, preferrably driver in back, and of course it has to be able to run the hill. Aluminum or Glass, Aircraft or Automobile? Thanks for the help.

You answered your own question if you want to haul 4 people and expect to run dry there is only one option CAR MOTOR! If you build a reasonable size hull from 12ft to 14ft go with a Small Block if you build a large barge go with a Big Block Chevy!

Go with an aluminum hull unless you run mostly water with no rocks, stumps or obstructions they will last much longer in a harsh environment. If you treat your boat like a porcelain doll then get a fiberglass hull.

novice airboater ,4 people , car motor ,cooler and other gear . I would go with 15' x 8" hull .

You dont absoloutly have to run a car-motor.. My 260horse 0-470 on a 13ft. Predator will run the hill with 4 people pretty easy... But for a big boat 4 total seats(mine only has 3) i would probably go with a 14ft car-motor boat.. I hear WaterThunder builds some great motors.. Its your boat do what you want with it!

Thanks for all of the input. If I end up with a car motor, is there a big advantage in going with a 350 Vortec as opposed to a standard 350? Also do you have any recomendations on prop type?
