What should I expect??

I have a 4.3 vortec and 1.77 to 1 gear reduction. It will be powering a 13' Apache hull. I will be turning a 70'' six blade Warp Drive that a friend will be letting me use and/or buy. Overall, will this be a decent set up or recipe for disaster? :?:

would work better if it was more reduction, but just pitch the blades less and it will work pretty darn good.

You're probably looking at a starting point of around 4.5 degrees at the blade tips if you want some throttle response

I'd look to turn the prop to around 2500 RPM, which would put you at 4425 on the engine.

I don't know how heavy your boat is, but that should make a decent ride boat and climb the hill a little bit

I think if you have a 4.3 with a 1.77 box you are going to have a great time. Great chance you are going to have as much or MORE fun than someone that did a DD sbc. And you already have it and don't have to buy or sell and the warp drive will probably work really cool.

what is the recommended reduct box.

Depends on your engine, and how big a prop you want to turn, at what RPM

Many folks on here are going with a 2.68 gear box on a small block, or a 2.37 box on a Caddy or BBC, and they are turning some monster props at low RPM for great push and low sound levels.
