TO RUN OUT THERE AND HANG OUT. THE 1ST THING I NOTICED COMING DOWN THE ROAD THAT I HADNT SEEN BEFORE WAS A SIGN THAT SAID "CHECK IN WITH THE CAMP HOST" OK I FIQURED GAME COM. HAD A NEW CHECK STATION BUT WHEN I GOT TO THE END OF THE ROAD TO THE OAKS IT WAS LIKE I PULLED INTO SOME'OLE BOYS BACK YARD , NO BULLSHIT THERE IS A 350 CHEVY HANGIN FROM A OAK TREE THAT I USED TO CAMP UNDER , 3 ROTTED OUT FIBERGLASS HULL'S SCATTERD AROUND , THEN RIGHT ON THE FINGER CANAL LEADING TO THE RIVER WHERE WE USED TO DRY LOAD OUR BOAT'S IS 2 TRAVEL TRALERS WITH A LEAN TO' SET -UP AND A SIGN THAT SAYS CAMP HOST, BESIDE HIS TRAILER IS A OLD PONTOON BOAT AND A CAR MOTOR BOAT A OLD CAGE HANGIN FROM ANOTHER OAK TREE AND PARTS EVERYWHERE , THIS OLD BOY IS GOT HIS STUFF SCATTERD ACROSS HALF THE CAMP SITE... (WTF) THE GAMEWARDENS USE TO COME INTO CAMP EVERY CHANCE THEY HAD AND CHECK COOLERS A LECTURE ON LEAVING A CLEAN CAMP... NOW IM NOT HATEIN ON THIS OLD BOYS GIG HES GOT AS CAMP HOST , MORE POWER TO HIM HES A LUCKY BASTARD TO LIVE ON THE RIVER YEAR ROUND BUT DAM HES MADE THE WHOLE OAK HEAD HIS YARD.... IM JUST WONDERING WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND WHAT THE DEAL IS AND IF ANYONE ELSE HAS BEEN THERE LATELY ?

BREWSTER,
Why didn't you just tell him to pack his stuff and leave? I myself wouldn't give you no lip.....and BTW, I think that is one of the best places around to launch from.

The sign that i saw was home made and i just figured that the old boy just fell on hard times and i figured that when the man showed up he'd clean up. And maybe he'll clean out that finger canal..

Mr. Brewster,
If you dont like the way i live why don't you just say so.
State pays me alot of money to manage this area.

I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAD SEEN THIS OR IF I WAS TRIPP'IN ON BAD HOG MEAT !!

I have not unloaded their since the new ramp over at Oak Creek you can't camp in the parking lot you must unload the boat and go to a designated camp around a half a mile a way, I prefer a hotel. This might be why the water management District does not let you camp in the parking lot. It is a shame that people cannot take home what they brought to the wood's. Next Saturday May 5th is the Kissimmee River stakeholders meeting in Okeechobee at the SFWMD office at 10 o'clock in the morning. I do know someone who will be attending I normally do but I have other commitments I will ask him to find out what is going on. All of the big dogs from FWC & SFWMD will be at this meeting. This is a quarterly meeting and it is held at the Bank of America on Highway 441 and 70, the office is on the second floor over the bank. I encourage airboater's that use the river to go to this meeting, to give input on subjects like this. At the last WRAC meeting Ferd Davis had said they may never remove the Cornwell camp as originally planned. So we need to get this cleaned up and back on track before we lose another valuable spot. He also reported that the Istokpoga Canal Boat ramp will open in April 2008 this ramp will also include an airboat only ramp. This is something members of the F. A. A has worked on for all Ariboater's we are always trying to get more access. :)

Check out the Cornwell boat ramp this week must say I was as upset as D-Brewster was  this most definitely didn't look good for airboater's. The Camping host is getting paid by the South Florida water management District it looked to me like someone had too much faith in him but I do promise you the phone calls that were made today will get some results done in the next couple of days. It is up to us to police our own, or even their paid staff thanks again D-Burster this is not my stomping grounds. I would have had to have a reason to go unload over there I am just glad I had a reason to look on S.A.The Florida Sportsman's Conservation Association worked hard on getting this area turned into a Public Use Area and allowing the access to Hunting on the Kissimmee River a lot of people don't know this but it was Airboater's that got hunting on the Kissimmee River.

BREWSTER I TOOK SOME PICS A WEEK AGO WHEN I WAS IN THE AREA.
