Where to go around River Ranch for food/drink

OK-- not quite directly related to airboat topics, but I'll be over at River Ranch Thurs-Sun and was looking for ideas on places to stop and grab someting to eat and drink. Won't have a boat so I'll be pretty open to any places in the area or witin 50 miles . Thanks !

To the resort-- I picked up a 3 night deal over at the state fair over a year ago and am finally getting to use it. I know I have to listen to the sales pitch, but I can say NO and get my 3 nights. Figured I'd explore the area a bit while I was there

RR has a nice restaurant over by their airstrip. Had a bunch of decent lunches there. Not sure of their hours though, we always flew in for lunch then back to MLB for work. They used to have a shuttle bus from the airstrip to the eatery too.

Hope this helps some.

Scotty

They have two restaurants and a country store that sells pizza and subs at River Ranch. The next closest place would be in Lake Wales.

on the outskirts (east side) of Lake Wales is a little restaurant called NORBY'S. North side of the road.

Awesome steaks.

Laura and I can hardly pass the place without stopping in and having a steak dinner. And it's where we took my parents to meet her parents way back when. That is the kind of place it is. it's not uncommon to see folks in a suit and tie eating there, but we've ate in there after camping 2 days at the milk bus, and in grubby clothes. And did not feel uncomfortable. It's casual for sure.

THE FOOD IS THE BEST AROUND. Portions are large too.

the cheery pocket on lake pirce great seafood oyster bar cheap drink an entertainment sometimes very rustic an casual

Thanks for all the ideas--- I'll have to check out Norby's sometime over the weekend ---
Plum--- I almost forgot about Cherry Pocket-- we were there maybe 5-6 years ago when I had the gator permit for Lake Pierce -- we liked that place too

Jay Bee's is another great place to eat it's just west of Boy Scout Rd heading to Lake Wales. There's another restaurant and bar at Indian Lake estates also.

Mood, How right you are, Sir. Norby's is a great place to eat. And Wayne (owner) is a really good guy.

Another place that we used to eat at years ago was Mar Lisa Cove off Camp Mack Rd. on Lake Rosalie.

And how about Lake Marion Restaurant on Canoe Creek Rd in Kenansville. You would take Peavine Rd (dirt) up from HWY 60 to keep from going all the way over to Yeehaw Jct and then up.

got to second Norbys, its very good, also Mar Lisa cove is hard to beat, it sits on Lk Rosalie, neat place.

It's good to hear that Laura and I are not the only one who like Norby's - You can have any veggie with your steak as long as it's GREEN BEANS.

As for Mar-Lisa ....
On the way to the KRVSA lake cleanup at Camp Mack we passed a sign that said:
Restaurant closed - FOR SALE

It was as we were passing that stretch of camp mack road that goes near Lake Rosalie.
Is that sign for another restaurant? Is Mar-Lisa still open?

I took it to mean that they [Mar-Lisa] closed up :(

Peavine road is the greatest shortcut in the world! ;) That has gotta be the smoothest dirt road I've ever seen.

Oyster & shrimp LOVERS ! Don't pass up SCUDDLES in Lake Wales. Hard to find. But darn well worth it. Just have to put up with the YANKEE Waiter.

Scuddles is in the same plaza as the DMV. Never ate there though.

I wish someone would buy the port at Lake Hatchineha and open a decent restaurant out there. I don't understand why that place never stays open for long. If it was done right (like Cherry Pocket) someone could make a killing there!

Norby's was real good-- and the choice of vegies-- green beans was outstanding ! Really good steak and nice folks there. Also hit the Cherry Pocket-- haven't been there in years. Food was very good there too . There was an "air-toon" ( pontoon boat setup up with airboat rigging ) over at one of the docks. Thanks again for the ideas
