The date has been pretty much set, but the location's still slightly undecided. I think it's been narrowed down to two areas, so if you all don't mind, let's just choose the spot with a poll.

  • St. Johns River: The idea is to put in at Hwy US 192, in the Melbourne, FL area at or near Camp Holly. We have several members, interested in this run, that know that area. Accommodations are kinda iffy anywhere in Florida on Memorial Day Weekend, but being right next to I-95 would probably help the chances of finding a place to stay for those that need it.
  • Lake Kissimmee Area: The area called "Polluted Waters" came up in another thread. I'm not exactly sure where the best place to put in might be, but I know we have members that are familiar with the Kissimmee Chain. There are great places to stay in this area that welcome your airboat if they still have space available. I'm talking about places like Middleton's Fish Camp (Overstreet's Landing), Camp Mack, Thomas Landing, and Grape Hammock

I personally like both areas for different reasons. The St. Johns run would be in an area that is probably one of the least traveled areas in Central Florida while the Kissimmee Chain, on Memorial Day Weekend, is known for attracting hundreds of airboats.

Thanks croc1 for starting the thread "monthly run" a few weeks ago.

Rick

I have never ran the st. johns but as long as it aint ridin in a ditch it should be fun so I can go either way.

the only thing is if it don't rain the only place to ride is in the river just came in a little bit ago and it has dried up even after the rain we got so if it rains it will be ok but if not the only place to run is in the river.

croc1 started this idea, but won't be around for a while leading up to that weekend, so we need to have the location nailed down for him when he returns. It doesn't matter to him where the ride takes place as long the plans are made.

The decision needs to be made pretty soon, probably by the end of this weekend. What do you all think?

One more thing: If the ride does take place on the Kissimmee Chain, we need someone familiar with the area, that would be willing to lead.

Melbourne is dried up we need rain or we will have to ride the river I was out there sat and it was in and out of mud puddles the river was the only thing wet

Well the corp is drawing down kissimme also so right now the lake and the edges are lookin likely. I was told the marsh was pretty dry at klissimmee so if anyone has info now is a good time to share it. When kiss goes down the edges get tough ... really sticky

Well guys, things are looking a little iffy' on having the new boat done before memorial day, this will be the second year i've missed on Hatchnehia/Kissimmee.. But im gonna keep my fingers crossed and hopfully luck will be on my side this time!!! Well we took a ride through Garders March about 3-weeks ago, wasnt a bad ride, but things were starting to dry up, if the marsh is two dry for yall there are a few other spots, if not riding the edge of hatchnehia, and stoping at the hills, and milk bus will be a great ride, I just hope my boat is done!! Id rather run Hatchnehia/Kissimmee, but its up too yall, and hey i might even have a boat  , Hope to have fun!!!

OO one more thing, the bridge on the canal between kiss/hatch(we call it The River) is a major party place on memorial day!!

Well if its gonna be kissimmee the marsh is dry. Plenty of good runnin on the edges of the lakes. plenty of shade at the bus. plenty of hill climbin at the ridge. and plenty of b.s. at the hill. so whats it gonna be.

Hey,

Didn't get to vote on where! (didn't know if my "air-fox" would want to go). I'll get reservations for Kissimmee today.

Rick, did you get your boat going yet?

Can someone please work out the details as I've only been there one time and would sure be nice to follow somebody that knows where to go! (or not to go)!

Jeff

Is it set for Kissimmee ???? if so where does everyone want to meet at ??? lets gitter done here time is runnin out

My boat's not gonna be ready. I'm not completely ruling out the chance of being there, but it's not looking good right now.
