Well-known member
Who's boat do you like and why?
Floral City, Diamondback, GTO, Hamant, Classic or any other big name manufacturer.
Thanks
Paul

i like hammant cause they build a super nice boat to what you want and are going to do with it. plus they (the owners) build your boat.not some payed help.

If I could only pick ONE, it would have to be Mark Robicheaux's boats. They are few and far between in Florida but I guess I have run more of them ahdn any other single boat. I have Met Mark personally and found him to be highly interested in each boat and in dellivering both craftsmanship and value. They are likely one of the Most expensive boats on the market (if you can get one) but, in their case, you DO get what you pay for. Ok Thats actually a Louisianna Boat.

Texas Boat: Has to be American Airboats. and for the exact same reasons I mentioned above as well.

Florida Boat: I haven;t run any of the current breed of modern boats, but I guess had I to guess, I would pick either Hammant or Diamondback. Diamondback because I know some highly satisfied customers and Hammant for that same reason plus I knew the boys dad in the old days. I have only had one dealing with the boys since they took over Hammant but it was like I was the only customer they had and all I did was order some conduit rolls. On price and on time. Both Diamondback and Hammant have a beautiful flowing designed hull that has sweet lines to look at.

Old Boats: Number One of course would be the boat I and my partner built at Slick Airboats. To date it is/was the best handeling boat I have ever operated. Next would be the Panther Glass Hull. this hull is nearly an ultimate frogging hull.

I have never owned a ride boat so I have no opinion there.

Scotty

If you were going to build a boat to hog hunt and run alot of dry, daytime and night-time, 520 cont. for power source, would you build fibreglass/slickbottom or aluminum/polymer ? I'm getting burnt out on slickbottom but concerned that aluminum/polymer will leave me stuck far from water? Interested in some experienced opinions.

I would go alum and poly and be done with it. A 13ft with a 520 on it should go just about anywhere. And remember it how you drive it not what you have mostly. I have seen a guy with a 520 that got stuck and could not get the boat to move again. I told him I could drive his boat out of that spot, he said no way. I walked over there and started it up and snapped the rudders twice and held them straight forward and drove right out of there. :D He started listening then.

One of these. Barely any design changes in 40 years. Guess you cant fix what aint broke.

Thanks for the pic Cowboy :D

Fine looking ride, heard alot of good things about deckovers. Not sure if my metal would convert easily enough. I also hear more people suggest aluminum/poly than do fiberglass. All boats I've hunted with have been fiberglass and most of them say the poly gets sticky after extended dry running. Don't really want to change my running habits, but like hmgm123 said I'm close to changing over and being done with it !
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm getting excited about doing a rebuild, just faced with that age-old problem of "which hull" !!
