Which PROP for a RANK RIVERBOAT!

CRACKERSTYLE

Well-known member
Need some info on which prop to run for a RANK RIVERBOAT.
Since everyone is building Rank Ride boats
Figured we 'd kill 2 birds with one stone.
LYCONTINENTAL 4 cylinder
One engine is a Lycoming 200 with 520 Gitsu Continetal cylinders (turned upside down) with continental fuel injection and is dry sumped. ( whats the HP rating?)

CONTINENTAL 8 Cylinder
Other is 8 cylinder continental with 520 Gitsu cylinders and is dry sumped (whats the HP rating)
Want a prop that is SNAPPY and AUTHORITIVE, dont wanna sit on the hill and wait for it to wind up. Wont it NOW, THROTTLE RESPONSE

thanx for the input on both engine

ps trying to post a picture of each engine, no luck, one is the 8 cylinder on my screen name and the other is the 4 cylinder on my photos under crackerstyle. HELP[/img]

If you don't know what ptr34 is talking about, just search Southern Airboats site and maybe you can find some pictures of Sensenich composite props and then guess what you are looking at.

Thanks, I guess you have to call that a SENSENICH PROPS/SOUTHERN AIRBOAT WEBSITE.

The sench is a good prop so is water walkers signiture series thats what I run a 74 or 72" will do depending on the amount of snap you want and they also make a cypress series as well for 4 cylinders. I would try before you buy different props work on different boats.

Thanx for posting the pic david, (how did you do it)
Thanx for the response.
I know on a RACE BOAT they run
66" - 4 cylinder
68" - 6 cylinder
72" - 8 cylinder

I was favoring a 68" Q sensnich on a 4 cylinder Rank Riverboat and a 72" or 74" Q sensnich 2 blade or a 3blade Q 70"-72" for the 8 cylinder
Dont wanna go to short, want to still be able to ride thru the woods and run the trails.

Any other suggestions

I run a 72 on my ride / race boat just back the pitch up so I can turn it up to where I want . Still pushes great on the hill. Sench props are good props you'll be happy

Cracker, I can only offer my opinion on the 4 cylinder as I have a 170 angle valve. 68" Q is rated @ 180-200 hp. Optimun thrust @ approx 2750 rpm. With 3 reference marks( 1 being lowest) I'm at approx. 1 3/4. Max rpm @ 2950, cruise skinny water@ 1400, cruse deep water @ 1750-1800. As soon as funds permit a rebuild on engine is in line so i can put more pitch in. I know of a 200 upstack with the same prop and it has excellent snap and will peel your eyelids back if you trash on it. And they're the quietest props I've been around. JMO 8)
