Whirl Wind Props

I have run whirlwind,I would suggest sensinch.Whirlwind are loud and I had problems keeping blades tight. That was my experience. :(

i tihink whirlwwind are great never had problem withblades being lose and they will repair them when others wont i chewed up a pair clippers and they put new edges on and it only cost 250 they are good blades isee my buddy fight tyingto set his sench blades i wouldent switch

I have a buddy who has a 200 Angle Valve.. He is running a wood prop(Florida airboat propellers) which is not near big enough for his motor.. His uncle had a spare 70" 2--blade Whirl-wind, he gave it to him to try out, set it where it would turn 2950rpms.. Lets just say he ran it and the next day the small wood prop was back on, He is going to ether get the Terminator Compostie Offerd by Tim Wagman, or a 70-34 small hub wide-blade from him also... As for me i run the Terminator, My opinion is you cant ask for a better all around prop!(Terminator)

I LOVE MY WHIRLWIND .... IT'S RIGHT OUTSIDE...AINT GOT MUCH LUCK BUT I SURE GOT A RIDE. I just ordered a max blaster 3 blade 80" I'll let Ya'll know but have no complaints on my stump puller just lookin for more from less... push that is with less prop noise and lower engine speed

I love Whirl Wind Props, I love how easy they are to set, I love how they are closed in on the ends on the inside so water doesn't get in the blades. I love the push (thrust) that they put out. Most of all I like the cost.
I am a fan of Powershift props and sensenich but there is nothing wrong with a whirl wind!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Airboat Capt 2, if you have tried Sensenich, powershift, and whirl wind how do you rate, 1 thru 3 and why? I am most intrested in the ability to run dry. Is the prop loud? I appreciate all of the feedback and this site.

All three have different applications where they excel.
I would say it depends on your engine/ reduction set up to say what prop is best for you.
I think they are all very close in thrust. There are some features that are better on the whirl wind and the cost is less on the whirl wind.
I like the Look of the powershift.
I know this doesn't tell you who is the best because everyone has a different Idea of perfect. All three of these manufacturers are running neck in neck.
Good Luck.

I do have a Whirl Wind on my Boat!

I did a lot of testing with the Whirl Wind, Terminator, PowerShift and the Wide Blade Sensenich. I tested all of them with a 2 to1, 2.38 and 2.68 Rotator gear box on a 13ft hull and a 16 ft hull. Some of the props performed identical and some fell way off the mark. I have found any boat that is under 15ft the powershift is the best for about everything the Wide Blade Sensenich is a very close if not identical second. The Whirl Wind and Terminator didn’t perform near as good for push or snap and most of all what I wanted in my ride boat (response). I would stay away from the Whirl Wind and Terminator in a ride boat application. Now for a large heavy 16ft plus boat that is used more as a tractor instead of an recreational boat I would recommend the Whirl Wind barley over the Power Shift. The Whirl Wind and Terminator both didn’t respond well to a gearbox ratio change like the Sensenich and Power Shift did that may be why they work good on a 2 to1 belt drive on a 16ft and bigger boat but don’t perform as well on a 2.68 or 2.38 13ft boat. I can honestly say all results were from testing and I don’t sell props and I don’t care anything about PR I just wanted to find they very best prop for my 13ft ride boat. I found that two props are superior for a ride boat application and only one prop works in a race only application.

The Terminators work well on aircrafts.. He is fixing to offer a narrow blade composite for smaller aircrafts, and an extra-wide blade for the gear-boxes, and belt-drives.. The Standard wide-blade i have now is perfect for 6-cylinder aircraft boats(hunt) I have mine on a hunting type set-up and i love it..ITS ALL OPINION, and what your wanting to use your boat for!

I couldn’t agree more with you. I have noticed once again that props are like the Ford and Chevy debate. However most people that swear by a prop have only ran that prop and have limited experiences with various manufactures. So I just recommend what I have ran on a car motor I can’t tell you what is worth what on an aircraft. In that case I can only rely on what I have heard and not what I have experienced. However with a car motor I have tested everything but an IVO.

Has anyone had any experience with a whirl Wind prop? How well does it perform for you?
I HAD A 72" 3 BLADE WHIRL WIND PROP BEHIND A BAD 503cid CAD IT WORKED REAL WELL AS FAR AS PUSH WENT YOU NEED TORK FOR A PADDLE PROP THAT IS DIRECT DRIVE I TURNED IT 2850 RPM AND MAN DID IT EVER PUSH I COULD FINALLY RUN DRY BEFORE I HAD A WOOD PADDLE PROP 72" 42 PICH AND I WOULD TURN IT 3200 RPM BUT THAT IS WAY TO MUCH RPM FOR ANY WOOD PROP AND IF YOUR RUNNING DRY I COULDN'T SAY IN THE GAS VERY LONG!!! AND AS FAR AS THE BLADES LOOSEING UP I NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH THAT IN HOLE TIME I HAD IT AND IT WAS OVER THREE YEARS IN FACT I HAD MY STEERING ARM BROKE AND I WAS RUNNING AROUND 40mph AND MY BOAT TURNED SIDE WAYS ON ME AND MY WAKE CAME IN SIDE THE BOAT AND I HEARD THE PROP HIT THE WATER AND I STOOD ON THE GAS AND IT PULLED THE BOAT STRIGHT OUT OF THE WATER AND DIDN'T EVEN DAMAGED THE PROP I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH IT THEN BUT THERE IS A PROP FOR EVERY MOTOR IF YOU ARE RUNNING DIRECT DRIVE WITH A CAR ENGINE WITH ALOT OF TORK I RECOMMEND A WIRL WIND FOR YOUR MONEY AND IF IT'S AN AIRCRAFT ENGINE A WARP DRIVE ANYTHING KIND OF PROP YOU CAN AJUST TO ANY PITCH YOU NEED WITH A WOOD PROP IS JUST A GUESS??? AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER THERE IS NOTHING LIKE AN AJUSTABLE PROP!!!!!!!! I DON'T CARE WHAT BRAND IT IS AND THE WIRL WIND PEOPLE TREATED ME REAL WELL!!!!!!

Maybe I am just hung over, but that was a really hard post to read

I ran my new MASTER BLASTER from whirlwind saturday at the club run on Kiss. It made me happy It seemed to be quieter and I was cruisin at 28 or 2900 rpms and used less gas. I have to get my quiet mufflers this week and replace the flex pipe with solid pipe and then run a sound test on it. I climbed the hill straight up the backside at the ridge from a stop at the bottom I coulda picked an easier place the second bump was a little tough but we wiggled it and made it. I didnt get stuck in the mud anywhere. So I like it fine.

Looking for some help with picking a composite prop. I have a 472 caddy that I believe is stock with a wide stick prop. It's 72X44. I'm interested in a composite prop, but want to make the right pick. I don't have a reduction unit, it's direct drive. This motor is on a 13FT. BIG-O fiberglass hull with a deck in the front and 3 seats with front steer. I'm running right at about 2500 rpms. Would anyone have a suggestion on what company makes A good one for my application. I know That because its direct drive I'm limited to a 2 blade prop. I looked at some for caddys but don't know if I can run a longer prop like a 74 or 76 and the pitch I have no clue about. If any of you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. WADE

Wade,
Get a 3 blade (narrow) Sensenich. I don't know who told you you couldn't run one on a direct drive. I know alot of people who run them on direct drive Cadillacs. Everyone is happy with them. Most people have 72". I have a 78", its pushs well, but does not have the snap of the 72". I think you will be very happy with it. It takes 5 minutes to adjust the pitch. The price is around $2000.00. You will find that it is the one biggest thing you can do to improve the perforance of your boat.

Big boom, Thanks for the input about the prop. I was told by a person in passing while at the patch that I could only run a 2 blade. I didn't really know, so I took that as the truth. Thats what I like about this web site, If your off, you'll be told. I'm not a full blown airboat dude yet but I'm trying. Any and all advice from you guys is greatly appreciated. Would you happen to know the part number of the three blade and any extra parts that I'll need? Thanks again. WADE

A guy out here in Nebraska ran a 3 blade narrow on his GPU and was happy with it. He is a Sensenich dealer and when they came out with the Q blade prop he switched to try it and hasn't taken it off of his boat since. He said that the 2-blade Q blade prop pushed much better than the 3-blade narrow prop. You might give that some thought. We run one on a 455 olds and are extreemly happy with it. We switche to this prop from a wood 72/38 paddle prop. Night and day difference. Just my opinion.

Wade,
I have never seen part numbers for their props. I think they go by blade style, number of and length. Call Steve at Sensenich, 813-752-3711. He is the rep. for them. He can tell you everything you need to know.
