I thinking about doing the 2.68 gearbox and prop change and sell what I have now so who builds the best gear reduction and how much is it going to cost me and ball park what the q series three blade for my ZZ4 is going to cost to you have all ways given me good advice before so I am going to take it again.

I recommend either the Rotator or Stinger they both are great gearbox's. I have never had a problem with either one. I have a 2.68to1 Rotator gearbox with less then 3 hours on it that I was testing on a 4.3 V6. This box has a heavy duty Flywheel. I have $2,200 in it and will sell it for $2,000. As for the prop for a ride boat I like the 78" Sensenich wide blade so I would call Sensenich and get the equivalent in a Q series it would probably be a Q series wide blade and not an ultra.

Dave Will this gear box you are telling me about fit my ZZ4 ? if so I would be very interested in it.

Tore up an original "K-Way" which was the first version of the Stinger that Bruce Kay designed and Panther built. Saw a new soft touch Stinger torn up by a 502. All gearboxes had perfect maintenance. I have run a Rotator, built by Panther, for 4 years or so and love it. It does chatter at idle though. Charles

Our 2nd boat had a K-way with over 400 hours and no trouble Now our 3rd boat has 550hp with a Stinger and turning a 82" 3 blade Maximus the first winter we had trouble in the cold weather and when I called Bruce K. he told me they had just developed the Big Boy for the big props and higher HP so we changed it to that big boy Stinger and after 300 hours it sounds and runs like new. So check with the manufacture and get the one they recommend for your set up.
