Who governs the waters?

As an new boat owner, I am interested in exploring new places to fish, mostly coastal flats . Who would you call to find out if there are any special restrcitions on airboating? Marine Patrol or whatever their new name is? Sherrif dept? Call both? What about cities that are on the water? Trying to keep this simple and stay within the laws..thanks..

yep the fwc protects fla's rules the sheriff knows the county ordinances and the city knows theirs. noise, manatee, and fishing regs would be the largest variable. keep us updated if you find a fun spot that you dont need to bring an attorney to keep ya out a trouble
