I dont understand why nobody ever has anything to say about american airboats in orange texas from what i hear they are the best there is but yet nobody talks about them any help or input on that would be appreciated?? :?: :?: :?:

I don't really know anything about them. I've never seen one around here in Central Florida.

I'm am curious about what people think about them. Do you own one?

No I dont own one however i have been in the market for an airboat for some time now and i think purchase time is right around the corner but in all my research and i have done alot American Airboats appears to me to be the best and not just a little better but Im talking probably 2 or 3 times better than any other manufacturer. However the confusing part of that is why noone ever talks about them maybe its because they are more expensive than most other airboats i dont know?

Just Dont Make Sense!

Don't think they sell as many boats in Florida or elsewhere due to the shipping costs. They have really cranked up production the last two years, where as Diamondback is at least 10 years old. Panther is quite a bit older and Alumitech has been around at least 15 years and it merged with Airgator which was around a long time.

But they are becoming more common in Texas. They are built like a tank and that hull warranty on some is amazing. Check out the picture on their site with the boat parked on boulder in a frozen lake. None of the Florida welded hulls in our barn will do that without caving in the middle.

I went down to Texas 4year ago to look at boat. I stop at marash land, american and silver dollar. We rode in everyone boat they all run dry ground, and handle abount the same .But silver dollar was the only one to build the rigging out of alium. The hull was set up better to run ice that we have in utah. The finish on the american boat was better than both marashland and silver dollar, cost was close on all three. The silver dollar boat may be alittle heavyer, but the boat run very good for me. Dave at alimtex is a great guy to help with trouble and sellgood parts wish they would have been closer, Iwould have like to see there boats. Still looking for the best prop. I run a whirlwind but its push seem to come in at 4200 looking for moe bottom end. Has anyone put a LS1 motor on a boat, that seem to me to be a good set up?

Found this in news today:

Air time for airboats: Orange company to be featured on Texas TV show Sunday

I'm in the market for a new boat. I've e-mailed them twice. Haven't heard a thing back yet. I may give them a call. I like the look of their boats and the web page.

:D I have been to their facility in Orange Texas. I have also riding and driven their boats. My friend bought a 16 x 8 with a 502 and a 3 blade power shift. In deep water with 8 guys( approx. 1600 lbs) the boat would do 59 mph. With 5 guys on it, the boat ran up the Kissimmee River side of the ridge like it was nothing. If I had the money to spend for a big boat, I would go directly to Farren, the owners son, and buy an Air Ranger. No one else has anything on them.

JayJay,

I've rode with Faron of American Airboats a couple of times now, (Faron is part/owner of the company). His Rhino edition is one bad to the bone boat! I understand he's in South Florida for awhile now so shipping for one of thier boat might not be a question.

I saw several American Airboats when I was in New Orleans my buddy Brian has one and it is a nice Airboat but I would not say they are any better than a Diamondback just different they have there own unique look and the Owner was there from American Airboats and he seemed to be a nice enough guy but the one thing I would consider is that Texas is a long way from florida and if you had a problen with the boat they are a long way away not like Diamondback or panther or hammet that are all in reasonable driving distance.

i've got one on order right now. i should have it but the hurricane changed that. any day now though.....but, i will have some info on their performance here shortly.

I think Faron has been really busy with the business ever since the hurricane but he is on here and talks about his boats. There are or were several for sale on airboatworld.com classifieds section and I think on this classifieds section. But we do talk about them.

Dakota,

The date of the original question is almost 1 1/2 years ago. It is not an issue now. It started trouble back then too.

A new member with the screen name jay jay went back and brought forward this old thread and that is what started the trouble.

This sort of activity is not expected and has not happened before. I hate to see you get your feelings hurt. I can delete the whole thread if you like.

To answer a few of the questions that I. did see though, We are not the cheapest airboats on the market and not the most exspensive, I like to think that we are very competitive with our prices.

Shipping has always been an issue when it comes to Florida, not to mention there is several companies you can buy from in Florida at a cheaper price. However, I do live in Florida and shipping can always be worked out. Warranty is not an issue. you still get the same great warranty.

Thanks for all the great post on my boats. I am happy to answer anyones questions.

Everyone Likes to say they have the "Best" but the perfect boat is in the eye of the beholder. We do our best to build a first class machine and make everyone happy.

Sincerely,
