I was thinking it might be fun to reflect! Your first hot rodding car, boat, whatever!

I guess apart from 2X4 go carts with free engines and such mine was a 1969 Datsun 510 wagon my dad's buddy sold to me at 14. Needed brakes and AT front pump seal so I replaced the front pump seal, (my dad didn't do car stuff) and tuned it up waiting for 16 years of age (dont need brakes on a sitting car). Anticipating body work (RUST) I bought a Craftsman Oxy /Accetaline kit and was practicing! 8) I remember my old man went out of town and it sort of lined up with my buddy selling me a 302 with C4 with 80000 miles for $125.00. By the time he came back the firewall was cut out and there was a nice small block ford sitting where it should be! I think the ultimatum was the car goes or I go! engine came in handy for my '68 Cougar/3 sp std,HP289 heads, crane fireball! headers and 600 holley VS! 8)

Mine was a 1969 1/2 ton C10 short bed with a 250cid 6 banger, put a 4-speed in it and went through the engine big pistons & cam aluminum intake 4bbl carb and headers Lots of fun!!!! :D

mine was a 1955 ford 4dr, is was all stock v8 3 sp on the tree. paid $300 from my dad's buddy. took it to shop class(dad was teacher)disc brakes up front,292& 3sd out.in with 302 auto, power windows ,power seats, power trunk and dule pipes, tilt wheel a/c .

put the car all together sold it and got 1981 chevy C 10 thats another story.

79 K5 BLAZER, 4X4 INLINE 6. 2 buckets up front no rear seat. hotel on wheels. how i long to be 17 again.

1955 Chevy 2 dr coupe. 265 CID V8, Power Pack Heads. Removed front bumper , Lift twist locks in the front coil springs, and painted metalflake blue. I put in a Foxcraft, Super Caravel Floor Shifter for the old 3 spd. Super loud cherry bombs too. When the 265 tossed the harmonic ballancer and the front of the crank, dad found a 1958 283 With the old Hilbourne Injection out of a Corvette as a reward for not failing the 12th grade again. It actually got 25 MPG back then, circa 1967. Took me all summer to make enough money to pay him back for that engine too. When I left E.T.S.U. and joined the Navy Dad would take it out for a joy ride much to Moms terror. Much to Mom's delight Dad sold it that spring, while I was still in ET School. Fond Memories.

1946 ford pickup with a 351 windsor when i turned 16 worked hard all summer to get money to buy it.then had it 6 weeks and drove off the road and in a ditch.messed up the fender.had a tilt front clip so i removed it and drove it around with no front clip.looked like a half truck half bucket.the next summer before my sienor year in high school worked hard to get money to find a new fender and get body work and paint job.then rebuilt my first engine .i look back now and remember everything i did rong putting it together but i thought it was bad to the bone.i was only 17.but after i graduated i had to sell it to pay for my schooling.i do miss it from time to time.but i forget all about it when i hop in my airboat and ride.

The postmaster in my home town was into old cars and drove a '30 Model A pickup to work. He'd stop in every few days at our garage for a $1.00 worth of gas and I got a taste for an A Model of my own. I was 15.

He found me one, a '29 two door sedan in a barn South of town for $100. One morning dad and I went out with our tow truck, pulled it out of the barn, pumped up the tires and he pushed me home.

I spent two days with a bucket of Spic n' Span cleaning out the interior from a 30 yr. accumulation of straw and chicken feathers. Mom made some new seat covers for the seats out of an old Army blanket she'd died black, we put a new set of plugs in it and cleaned the carb, and that old Ford fired right up. Fun old car.

the first one I can remember s taking two old broken (literally ) sail boats and putting teh two good half's together adding a duck bill some camo and a transom bracket for a 7.5 mercury .....I was around 9 years old ..... since then done many boats, dunne buggies, a plane, 4x4 truck 8" lift on a Cheyenne , done s some tractors and heavy machines also
ya'll are killing me with the old trucks, someone find me a 1931 chevy truck with a extra cab and doors so i can make a new crew cab to pull my airboat :D

My first Mopar it was a 340CUI Demon. I blew the stock motor up in one week and had to build a motor for it. I was only 17 and she went 11.90's on motor! It was junk but I built 100% of it myself. Man that was the funnest thing I have ever owned. I'm with ya Skeeter ain't nothing like driving a nasty standard trany! The pic was at the 1987 WDIZ street nat's man them where fun when people actualy drove street cars to them and partied. Now everybodies street car comes in on a hauler with three 40K back up motors!

1973 vw bug i was 17 lowered cal kit empie rims 1835 with big heads and 48 dual dellorto's and a loud exhaust. at 21 i got a 67comaro big block 11 to 1 com. ford 9in.456 locker dot slicks and roll cage and and buckets that i never tied down.very dangerous, loved it and drove it to work.Got in trouble and sold it. after a while i started messing with those fan boats and well you'll understand the rest.

Since you are into drag racing. Do you Know Wayne Stewart? Used to campeign a '66 Camaro with a BBC in it. Ran 11:xx or high 10s. Was painted in the Signs & Lines Company colors. White w/ Purple, yellow, red and such.

He helped me build my first BBC truck engine in early 90s maybe late 80s. We were neighbors back then.

I guess ya called it Orlando. We called it Bithlo but it was on 50 headed toward UCF on the South Side of the HWY.

I went with him several times just to see the races and help push the car around.
