ZINC PLATES

Does anyone use Zinc plates on their boat?? I am thinking about attaching one below the water line to help control the corrision on the boat.

I notice you run trim tabs. You might be able to rivet a couple of small ones to the top side of the tabs. Just an idea.

Are you running in salt water? If you aren't zinc's won't do you much good. If you are running in salt water you also have to worry about ANY dissimalar metal. I am assuming that you have a metal boat. S/S bolts used to hold on the polimer thru aluminum hull in salt water will cause problems. The major concern would be if you leave your boat in salt water for long periods of time.

If you use an anode for an ALUMINUM boat ...make sure it is made of Magnesium and not zinc. Magnesium is lower in the metal chain than aluminum and zinc is higher. If you use zinc it won't work.
