The early shallow water jon boat conversions were made by a company called "AIRBOY." They used a small singe cylinder engine apx. 5hp and a small wood prop. The entire engine, cage and prop turned to direct the thrust and it did not use a rudder.

1.56 puts prop RPM around 2,200 so at least 3 wide blades with lot's of pitch. Call Sensenich to see what blade and hub combinations they can offer in NGQ or JW.

Going to have new boat built soon
I say go with the Ls, that is plenty of power to push a deep sided 15x8 and should be a point and go boat loaded down. Has to be a reason most car motor boats being built now are Ls powered. More power,less weight,plenty reliable.
