Re: Prop Seal

Have you tried taking the bolts out? Once you do that dig the seal out. After you get it out, clean surfaces with a degreaser. Install spring first than the seal. After seal is in put over flange, insertspring inside seal lip. Then coat outside of seal with great stuff and push into place. They make...

you could ride it round the shop on the table under it. First rule of starting airboat is to make sure everything is clear.

Why not take your old starter to a starter repair shop and have it fixed? Most of these shops are needing business.

Re: no start when cold

If your using a used pump that can be part of the problem. New pump is pricey but will last a lot longer. Used to be a guy down here that would change the leather for $25.00. but it would only last a year. The new one in my boat has lasted 5 and still going strong.

Re: Lycoming 0290 prop

Sounds like a lot of prop for a 0290. Even flattened out I don't know if you have enough HP to turn it.You might be able to shorten blades. I understand the this is what I have. Maybe you can look into a trade somewhere.

Michelle Booth 561-801-5777 or msgator85@aol.com

She made a couple sets for me. Used sunbrella material. looked great and wasn't sticky to the skin. Also included rainsheilds.

If you want to overpay for some mediocre work that takes forever to get, there is a place in Fla city.

Re: This year's Mack's fish camp trip...

You can get a ride on any number of boats mine included. As far as the food, we will eat, maybe a everglades thing, frog leg fry, I'm sure we could find a mess of fish. Oscars are great and easy to catch Bass if you want. Oscars are a pain in the ass to clean but table fair is excellent. That and li...

Re: need help 0520 carb set up

Before you guess at how to set it up, contact GMAC 76 here on southern airboat. He set a carburetor for a 0300 up for me to put on a 0470. Fast return at a more than fair price. He was a pleasure to talk to and will steer you in the right direction.

Turn prop until valve opens, wait a few minutes then turn to top dead center on compression. That will bleed them down.

I use a apple computer, don't know if that has anything to do with this but for a while if I hit the return key to go back to the menu after posting it would double post. If I returned by going to forum at the top and starting over it wouldn't. It stopped double posting after a update.

Re: 0470 PERFORMANCE HELP??

Start with pistons, 10 to one is going to bump it up and you don't have to split the case. Pacemaker ignition will let you play with some timing issues. Cam if you want to split the case. As old as the 470 - 13 is might be a good id Jurnigan Engines can help you with parts. There is someone on here ...

How big is the boat? Why didn't you ask your cert. aircraft mechanic friends? The 470 -13 is a old workhorse. Never thought of it as a hot rod.
