Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

I have a friend that has a rebuild shop and he always made a short jumper that connected terminals 1 and 2 together. You have to get on the gas a little to get it to start charging but no worse than putting boat on a plane. You will not have a drain on battery with this method. I agree with the wiri...

Re: Rubber pads between rigging and deck

I just bolt it to the deck. Never had any problems. Deck has paint, rigging has paint. I haven't had any corrosion problems.I think if I did put something between them I would use some conveyor belt.

Re: New Florida commercial operator regs.

Cant steve, I don't blame you for wanting to do the right thing. You should talk to your owners and see if they are willing to foot the bill for the classes for you and any other captains they employee. You could sign a agreement that you you won't leave him for a agreed upon length of time. You get...

Re: Lycoming Intake tubes.

No intake should ever have a hole in it. It is probably a rust hole. Jurigan has stainless steel replacements. You may have to cut it to fit but you never have to worry about it rusting again.

Re: Line X on full deck

I painted mine but broke it up with non skid. You paint your deck and let it setup. Next day you tape off what you don't want painted, Mix up paint and add non skid. Shoot it and pull the tape. Very durable and doesn't weigh what the seasick weighs.

Re: Cylinder rebuild and recondition: First TBO to Chrome

Chromed cylinders are hard and don't wear like steel. On any cylinder you have to measure it to see condition. Make sure it is within limits posted in overhaul manual. That includes out of round. Cylinders that are out have two options. Bore them or chrome them. If you bore them you use oversized pi...

Re: 520 Continental rebuild

If you don't run the hell out of it why Frankensteine it? 520 makes good power and its going to be a lot better than it was. What pistons you going use with fresh cylinders? Your going to spend a lot of money thats not needed. Hard to improve continental cam.

Before you buy all the conversion parts, you might want to pull a jug or two and pull some rod caps to check bottom end.

That's dangerous, you should post some pic. Aitboat is ship/vessel shall follow the COLREG. Here we need a yacht drive lisence signed by the MSA(Maritime safety Administraton). Is there any requirement in USA? Only if you were born after a certain date, OI think it is 1985 but I could be wrong. And...
