Re: Fuel pump issues

Sounds like a pickup problem, like it is too close to the bottom or sucking air. I would try sticking a hose in the fill and duct taping it shut and taking a short ride, hopefully without a full tank.

Re: Pacemaker Install

Pacemaker adds full map for an idle timing of 22 + 10 = 32 Deg BTDC.

I just put a new 2 blade whirlwind prop on a lycoming 180 and the instructions said not to exceed 26 degrees. I think that is what it said. I know it wasn't 32. Any idea why?

I would bet some or most of the 401 guest are registered users. I have to sign in everytime I come on and I do. I don't know what changed but checking keep me signed in doesn't work for me. If it doesn't work for others they might not bother signing in.

The machine shop that I used was in Homestead for years and had good reputation. The pistons I had break was the skirts. Broke from oil ring down.

Re: 350 SQUEAKING

Years ago I had a 327 I built for a pickup truck. It had a weird squeak to it. A year after I built it,it broke a piston skirt off a piston. I put a new piston in it and went on. One year later same thing happened. This time I checked the bore and found that when it was bored they had squeezed the b...

I know 3 out of 4 pumps have been pumping water on 41 for months 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But they won't let it go into 3A or B All going south under their bridges.

Re: Main crankshaft seal

I want it to set somewhat fast. It doesn't take long to push the seal into place. As far as split or solid, both are FAA approved. Personally I like the solid. But if you have never installed a solid one a split one would be advisable. I was told the solid one is made from ladies private parts becau...

Re: Pitted Aluminum

Putting a bottom on a boat is something you cannot do by yourself. You are going to have to have someone buck the rivets for you. I have known a few people whose wife would do it but not many. And that was a long time ago. Another thing to consider is, the bottom of that boat is what makes the boat t...

Re: Pitted Aluminum

Rivet guns are not all equal. You want at least a 2X with a soft start trigger. I have gotten a few off eBay at a decent price. Aircraft tool supply is another place. Clecos are another must have.

Re: Pitted Aluminum

If your going to put poly on it why would you keep the stainless? You need to remove it and rivet up the holes. If it is a riveted hull it is probably 7075 you don't want to weld it, it's too hard of a alloy. aft you remove it treat the corrosion and steal flex it before the poly.

I would either trade it or buy a new one. If your going to drill it, find someone with a milling machine. Like a machine shop.
