Re: Lookin for a water check

Checked Eden 6 and its up to 10.5 we are normally still sliding without issue at 9.5. I doubt it will hold but there should be plenty of water this weekend. One of our camp members will be going this weekend off L-28 I will get back with what he finds. :old_glory:

Scotty1: Can't wait! We have been going out to a camp off 41 but the water is gone there as well. Hopefully by July we will be sliding on the reservation again.

Re: 4.3 DD Prop

Has anyone had any luck running a dd with a warp drive prop. Looking at the used props in the classifieds to try and pick the best one. I am partial to the warp drive because its very tough.

4.3 DD Prop

Anyone have a 4.3 DD setup?? Putting a boat together and wondered if anyone has a favorite prop. The engine is a vortec marine engine with an RV cam and its 262hp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :old_glory:

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

Lwells: The engine checks out fine and runs just as it did before. I am going to keep things fair. Oil change, spark plugs, and fuel replacement. I am happy with how they are handling the situation so at the end of the day all is well. After talking to my aircraft mechanic it seems like a rebuild is...

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

The way I was taught to check the fuel when I learned to fly was to put some one you finger . Smell it for diesel. Then rub you fingers together if it feels greasy then you have diesel or jet A That is a great method and its exactly how the contamination was first discovered. Avgas will also turn a...

Re: Lycoming 4 cyl cruising rpm

It sounds like a power to weight ratio issue. Most setups with those particular engines are on 12ft and smaller boats. I run a 0-320 on a 10ft hull and it planes out at around 1200 to 1300 rpm with two people. I cruise between 1300 and 1500 with no wind at a speed of 20+mph. Running with a load to t...

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

Lwells: Thanks for the info. So far the fuel company has been working with everyone who bought fuel. They seem willing to pay for fuel system cleaning, oil changes, and spark pug replacements. Around $500 is what they offered but that is not even close to what a total cylinder rebuild would cost. No...

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

Are you going to tear the engine down or just keep running and see what happens? So far everything has checked out with no damage so I will keep running it. Changed the oil, the plugs, and flushed the fuel system. The borescope showed no signs of damage so I am going to keep running it. I think we ...

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

Sarahj can you share the location of this contaminated fuel source? Thanks for sharing and hopefully your engine has no damage. :thumbleft: The Miccosukee gas station on 41 was the location. I really did not want to mention them because so far they are doing everything they can to make it right. Th...

Re: Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

The problem with running a diesel mixed fuel in an aircraft engine is detonation and excessive heat. Diesel lacks octane as well as the lead that is required to cool the engine. Depending on the mix and the power setting it can be a death sentence for an aircraft engine. Total engine failures can ha...

Diesel Contaminated Aviation Fuel

I have learned some hard lessons this week about contaminated 100LL fuel. I am not sure what the damage to my engine is yet but figured I would pass on what I have learned. Apparently a fuel tanker delivered 500 gallons of diesel and mistakenly dropped it into the 100LL avgas tank instead of the die...

New Deck for an Old Boat

I have an old Taylor that needs a new deck. It is a 10ft full deck. Need some suggestions of who would be the best builder for the job. My uncle is also looking to replace his worn out Thurman so someone who could do a deck for me and a new hull for him would be great. I hear good things about Benny...

Does anyone know what the big square areas with the L shaped docks are? I was getting some coordinates from google maps and noticed them. Just curious if anyone has any info about them.

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

Why? I like to cut one mag to slow down in certain situations to prevent bumping into people with fancy paint jobs or coming in too hot to the dock. Its nice to be able to give some added courtesy to people who own show boats or anyone who has some money in their paint job. I have a 70's 10 ft tayl...

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

BoatAir,

We have a pond camp and its nice to be able to slow the boat down by cutting off one mag as you come into the dock. It also comes in handy in the canal when the wind is blowing or there is limited parking due to large groups of boats.
