Re: Does the dark side really have cookies????

u can build lots of reliable power with reliable parts and a reliable builder..why leave some power on the table Rich is right, just depends on how much MONEY you want to spend... I honestly can’t answer the money question because I have no idea what my budget will be in a couple years. They way I ...

Does the dark side really have cookies????

I’ve always been an aircraft/GPU guy but I think if I was to get or build another boat it I think I am going CM and gear box. I don’t even know where to start with a motor. I want something carbed that makes good power but not super hopped up and unreliable on a 13-6 aluminum hull. Not sure how wide...

I acquired this carb out of trade. I am hoping to use it on a 470 conversion. Just looking for any info on it. I was told it came of an 8 cylinder conversion.

Holley 500 on a 470 conversion

So those that have been following my recent posts I finally decided to start collecting parts and do a 470 conversion to my 220.

So if my holley is running good on my 220 with a single mag and dome pistons do I need to do any adjusting putting it on a 470 conversion?

Re: Need help figurung out what egine I have

Thank you Gary for the advice. I was reading some other conversations of new airboaters and the advice they were given. One of the things that stuck in my head was “when in doubt throttle out” and don’t lift off the throttle fast from higher speed, the wake could come up and over the back and sink ...

Re: What's the best carbon fiber prop

70-72” 2 blade. They ALL burn oil. I am a member of the GPU club. Are you doing just top end or bottom too? If just the top end do yourself a favor and do a 470 conversion. Way better cylinders and will run you about 3500 total. If the bottom end had a worn or bad crank and you are splitting it go 5...

Re: GTSIO 220/520 intake/carb question

Yep, they are weak, soft bores, the heads are mostly weak due to flange welding and refacing with the seats still intact, destroying the pinch fit of the seat to counter bore in the head. The IO-346 has 5.125" bore with the same style cylinder head as the PE-90/150 or 220-GPU but with dual plug conf...

Re: GTSIO 220/520 intake/carb question

They are designed for forced induction, hence the T in the GTSIO and the I for injection, if you look at the intake port, it has a big pocket or bowl if you will which causes reversion in the flow, back in the day, a local racer even JB welded and polished that pocket. 220 cylinder flowed best over...

Re: GTSIO 220/520 intake/carb question

All of it will virtually bolt up, keep in mind that the GTSIO cylinder heads are the worst flowing for naturally aspirated carbureted engines, IO-346 cylinder heads "like hens teeth" are the best flowing aside from the O-470/220/PE150 cylinder head, been tested years back Why are they the worst flo...

GTSIO 220/520 intake/carb question

I am planning on doing a 220/520 build and thinking about going the GTSIO route because of intake clearance issues with my rigging.

What can be used from a 220 intake and is a Holley 500 enough carb?

I don’t personally have the .010 crank. The guy I got the STD has them call or text me 954-242-4476 and I can get you in touch with him. I just bought the STD for piece of mind when I do build

E225/520 build

I plan on building/having a motor built in the next year or two. I don’t think converting my 220 is worth it and it looks like a E225 would be the easiest motor to drop into metal work. The biggest question I have is should I go to a builder and let them find me a bottom end , core motor, or piece i...

How much of a performance difference would there be seen if I used those pistons in a AV conversion vs if I keep running them in a 220 jug

535133 pistons

What is the compression ratio on these pistons?

Currently have them in my 220

What would the performance difference be between these in a 220 cylinder vs an AV470?
