Re: spray mixture

All good info. I sometimes have to dump the boat on dry cut grass and want to keep the effort down. I sprinkle the path with a hand weed sprayer

Re: Thrust Performance Test and Measurement

For comparison and calibration of the trailer configuration, I also plan to fab up an inline linkage using the same load cell (and steel) that can be tied into straps/chains and used to measure tension with my boat floating in my pond and pulling against a strap around a good pine. I would suggest u...

Re: Need opinions on prop choices

Use this product for your intake front and rear areas. It is not likely to push out if your crankcase pressures are high which is a common issue in high output engines. I run 2 breathers on my 406. https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/ultra-series-gasket-makers/permatex-ultra-grey-rigid-high-...

Re: 383 Stoker W/ Gear Reduction

Thanks for the response, I will start eliminating some things to figure the problem out. Thanks again A lot of things you can do that no one else can since it's your boat. Blind questions is real redundant, but to answer one: a 2.38 gear will move a prop 14.28 minutes per degree on your timing. a 2...

Re: stinger gearbox noise and movement

if they would have had a soft drive on from the beginning you would not have had this problem. Also when the gear box is assembled there is a pre load on the gears and if not done right your wasting money.

Re: GM HEI Billet Distributor - Asian

And it would also be very wise on ANY aftermarket HEI to remove the pickup coil off the top bushing and drill 2 1/16" holes in the bushing like GM did and then make the necessary provisions in the bushing support webbing to allow the grease to be able to travel freely in the grease well as ori...

50 more cubes should give a bit more power but not sure how much and if is worth the trouble/cost. maybe a cam swap from a e225 would do the trick

See how it runs but I would be thinking about a belt for the power to the jack shaft. It would be smoother and less maintenance/reliable

There is a plastic liner in side the cable which when it wears through balls up and creates a tight spot which only gets worse.
yes you are better going new.

Re: Leave the pcv valve on or take it out pros and cons

make sure your rubber cap on the pvc tube at the base of the carb isn't cracked or rotten. If it leaks your carb will be difficult to tune. I put a 2 in piece 3/8 of rubber airhose with a bolt siliconed in it to replace the rubber cap.

Re: Think I blew it up??

A mirror might help but a walk back on start up on trailer or ? would be better especially in warm weather. I was thinking about a pressure gauge in the cooling system might give indication of the beginning of a leak after you establish a normal operating reading. Just a thought

Had that happen to me and the boat was 2 miles in rough territory. had to pull the heads out there (fiel repair) and got her going and now problems for 10-12 years.
I would hang on to that 434 sbc good chances it will out perform the LSA but not an expert
