Re: 3A closed again

Got a report yesterday. New FWC officers getting trained at the 40 mile ramp. I'm sure they're looking for opportunities to "teach" them how to write up tickets and do checks.

Re: 0470GPU Prop Rotation question

The Whispertip is a pretty wide airfoil compared to some other popular props. It has a great bite down low and pushes like a tractor. Good static push. It doesn't spool up as fast as a lighter prop. It does have a bit more drag at high speed than a narrower prop. I run mine at 2850. It's a good all-...

Re: Van Meter Fire Dept

Good job steering them in the right direction and hooking them up with Diamondback. The right equipment is crucial. The training will be of great benefit in their safety and rescue operations.
What are their conditions like? Marsh, swift water, canal system, lakes, ?
Kudos George.

Re: Big news about "GLADESMEN: The Last of the Sawgrass Cowboys"

Thanks David. What a great film. This film is a blessing to Gladesman, airboaters and for our Everglades. Congratulations on winning the Knight Foundations award. Well deserved recognition. Thanks for posting the film link. Many of our friends and family have been asking to see it. Will certainly sp...

Jolly Roger and his Karaoke machine, drinking Michelob Ultra...what a great time. He could sure sing and play that guitar. Last saw him at Dustys celebration of life.
Rest easy Roger.

Check out Mack's Fish Camp as your southern destination. Marshall and his family have 5 generations of history there. They have cabins, cook house, pavilion, private boat ramp and a safe haven to enjoy the Glades. It's a great place and they are great folks. http://www.macksfishcamp.com/ Have a grea...

Yea man. Will miss getting together, talking, riding and eating. I know it's a big commitment for you to come down. Take care of your priorities and we hope your financial dust settles. Covered dish is a great idea. No need to get extravagant, although the crawfish boil was awesome. Be safe buddy. W...

Mr Potter was a gentle giant. Always kind, polite and had stories to tell if you just hung around a while patiently and was willing to listen to them unfold. Always stuck out his hand for a cordial greeting and would tell me occasionally...."you're getting fat after retirement", and laugh....

Re: Lost Hidden Florida Everglades Pyramid / Temple site

Many years ago, if the Miccosukee caught you desecrating a site or committing a crime, they would tie you to a Manchineel tree. The acidic sap from the dew or rain would cause your skin to burn and blister. A horrific sight.

As a native Miamian and Gladesman, we treasure our Everglades, its history and the historical treasures therein. The last thing we want is to find the Fountain of Youth, the Lost City of Gold or the Pyramid Temple Site and have every curious Joe bring an entourage of Hollywood Heavy Hitters to explo...

Re: replacing fuel pump on o520 aircraft

Facet makes a variety of pumps with different flow rates and pressures. Get a Gold Flo low pressure pump so it doesn't over power the float. I can't recall exactly, but I believe less than 7 psi. Most folks prefer the models without the Positive Shut-off (PSO). Here is their site with the various mo...

Your idea sounds interesting. Not sure how practical it may be. I suggest you contact FEMA, who developed NIMS ( National Incident Management System) and ICS (Incident Command System), which is used at Wildland Fires and all Emergencies. It is the command model with which FEMA operates as well as Fi...

Re: Jon boat to airboat

Airboats can be tippy. Engines mounted high and prop torque affect this. 48" is not a very wide hull. A Jon boat with an airprop is not an airboat. Same as a bicycle with an engine is not a motorcycle. If you're determined to build it you'll find its limitations quickly. Just trying to steer yo...

Yea Pipedog. It's been cancelled. The keys folks got beat up by the hurricane. Best let them focus on getting their things back in order. The AAOF did well. A few trees knocked over. There is still a big Ficus that is blocking the west side perimeter. We've had a couple of work parties and cleared m...
