NEW DynaMarine REVO Hull
Why are you using channel as stiffeners on the floor vs. t-bars? Bk Strength and weight, channel like this is stiffer than t-bar. The jet boat industry used to build boats using t-bars years and years ago. They've since switched to channel girders similar to these. Not quite as easy to bolt to as t...

Re: NEW DynaMarine REVO Hull
Mig'd or tig'd or you use both? My untrained eye can't tell. Interesting to see how all the parts fit together thanks for sharing. Does the gap under the front deck near the hull stay there? Looks like a trap for critters, junk, mud etc to hide. But I'm guessing this is more of an airboat one would...

Re: Rotator gearbox?
Some people have had good luck with changing up oils. I believe they've used Redline Heavy-Duty Shockproof. Might check with the manufacturer though on what oil they recommend to avoid any warranty issues by using non-recommended oils

Re: NEW DynaMarine REVO Hull
How would this hull perform with a 285hp 520 Continental ? Have not built one with a 520 yet, but have done a 13'6 x 7'6 O-540 boat and a little 12'6 200hp AC boat and another 13'6 boat with a 200hp GM Ecotech w/Gearbox. The 540 boat was a 72-74mph boat with poly, the others obviously slower boat a...

Re: NEW DynaMarine RVO Hull
post a pic of the tooling on that punch press, the holes and outline look nice and clean. Is it a single hit? The laser cuts the ID of the hole out and then the dimple tool hits it to form the emboss Rich. This way we can choose to not punch the center out, or change the ID of the emboss to whatever...

NEW DynaMarine REVO Hull
Well it's been quite some time since I've posted anything new and figured I'd share the latest hull to hit the floor. This new REVO will be 14' x 7'10, be 17" deep at the transom and weigh in just under 450lbs with rake. Here's the details and some pics... Bottom and transom: .125" 6061-T6 Sides and...

Get ahold of Brian Londeree at Line-X of Sarasota. He is one of the leading, if not the leading Marine Line-X shops in the country and works closely with corporate on marine products and procedures.

3-balde with a 2.5 R or even new JX is an awesome setup. Have also run 500hp LS1 with a 2.68 and 3-blade 80" whirlwind superwide with great success. It was a ground running machine and cruise at 2800rpm all day long loaded.

They both had their benefits for sure Reed...I'd go supercharged though, same power but it's instant.junglecat wrote:Shane which was the better motor , turbo or supercharged ? I know you have built both.

Re: LS3 twin turbo
I've run a twin turbo 418 LS3 and loved it. Took a little longer to spool on the bottom, but really not that bad. In reality it just feels a tad slower off idle when you compare it to how much power it makes when the boost kicks in at 3000rpm. I wouldn't hesitate to build another one.

Re: Gear Reduction
Shane While this is very much a "SWAG" on a gear drive one of the keys to the Branch engines living so long is the use of a home brew lubricant. The Redline Shockproff HD may benefit from the addition of 10 to 20% Lucas conventional stabilizer as you noted a thinner viscosity. Lucas has advised it ...

Re: new corvette engine
Going to the 2014 Gen V LS may be like taking on an EcoTech build. They have a lot of technology that may prove a challenge in an airboat application. 1) Active Fuel Management - direct injection turning cylinders off and on 2) VVT Note: Compression 11.5 : 1 with a new piston design could be risky....

Re: Gear Reduction
We've had good luck with Redline Shockproof as well but Amsoil 190W and 250w have been fantastic as well and the gearboxes in general have run 10-deg or so cooler using the Amsoil. Yes that was a back to back test on the same boat. Redline seemed to breakdown (get thinner) quicker than the Amsoil wa...

By all means send that sucker in and we'd be glad to take a look at it and see if it's a gear issue or what. Give me a shout any time and I'd be glad to help!

If an engine has to run trouble free for "well over a half century" before its considers a "viable airboat power plant" in your opinion....I am glad you are not in charge of any kind of R&D or powertrain development of any sort. Most engines now a days have been torture tested by manufacturers to si...
