Re: LS LOW TORQUE Engine Build

It's all about torque at the rpm you want to turn your engine. A water wheel might make 10,000 lbf of torque but if it does it at only 1 rpm it's not going to do a lot of work. Torque is like peanut butter and rpm is like jelly. You have to have both to make a pbj. You can have a lot of power with a...

Rural King is my store of choice. Never had a bad experience with them and you can't beat their prices on anything.

He should kill one with his bare hands and then come back and tell us about it.

Re: Engine suggestions

if you're guiding i'd strongly suggest a 20' boat. my 18/8 would get crowded in a hurry if i had 4 guys running around without a clue as to what they're doing. Typically builders only add like 1-1.5k per linear foot so the cost difference isn't huge. As long as you're not wanting to run up hills a ...

All your low rpm torque translates to is.....power available at that rpm.

Torque does ZERO work. Power does work. Power makes thrust.

I'm staying out of this one. I'd rather argue religion. I'll say only the prop has no idea if the prime mover is a chainsaw engine or a steam locomotive.

Turbines spool up and down too slowly to be a good choice for a normal airboat. But here you go:

It would be fun to watch. If the drag race was 1,320 ft., it would take the 200 mph car 4.5 seconds to cover. Top Fuel cars were running under 4 seconds before the track was shortened.

I only met Ken once in person but I considered him a true friend. He flew helicopters in Vietnam and although he mentioned it a time or two he never bragged about it. A true hero in my book.

I'll miss you Buddy. Prayers for you and yours.

I run salt all the time and Alumitech built me an awesome boat. The 18' AGI hull rides incredible 3/4 deck over with a GM 376 FI 525hp. Runs dry no problem with a load and handles a heavy chop very well. 25 years airboating and 4 airboats later, I feel like a have the perfect combination for my nee...

I want the rankest horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine I can get. Don't care how much of what kind of fuel it burns except I don't want to have to mix stuff. Only requirement is being able to run in a couple of minutes. Rather not spray it but won't rule it out. Maybe twin-turbo either one on e...
