FAA meeting

I believe that the FAA will hold their annual event/meeting at the Boars Nest Camp (area 2A) in early January. Some of the participants will be staying the week end at the Old Glory Camp for the event. (8 miles from the "Boars"). I have 17 beds available for members of any air boat club. (...

Saving The Turtles

I'm still into "Saving The Turtles". The season is in full swing but once again the rain is devastating. Last year, I had to dig ALL the lairs and place the eggs in incubators. Many turtles did not lay here. Of the ones that did, their eggs were doomed to drown. In 2016, I had well over a ...

Pond apple recipies

I know that there are some folks out there that "do" pond apples, and I have seen recipes posted a few years ago but I cannot get any thing on search. Any one that may have a step by step recipe and is willing to share, please contact me at facebook "Old Glory Camp". Thanks.

Re: Veterans Appreciation Day Run

Jeep, to some folks it is, the "entitled" don't give a sheet. I do this each year (with or without veterans) as a reminder that some do appreciate the freedom that we have today because of our veterans. I will try to include some of the PBCSO personnel this year and expand this event to ot...

Re: Any other oldtimers from the Good old days

"Cowboy", Thank you for those pictures. I have to say that they brought tears to my eyes. He was a great influence in my life. I had the pleasure of learning air boating from him as well as hunting off half tracks in the glades. He was my pioneer and hero. I would stop anything I was doing...

Re: HAS ANYONE FOUND TREASURE OR OTHER THINGS IN THE EVERGLA

As for lost or misplaced gold, silver etc., no. "Skinnypockets" did find a dug out canoe a few years ago in the St Johns River when the water was very low. He towed it in and brought it here to Camp Old Glory where it hangs today. An Indian artifacts person saw it and said that it was 500 ...

http://southernairboat.com/photopost/data/508/Norman.jpg Cowboy, where did you get this pic? No one has commented on it yet but I'm sure that is Norman Padget. Not only a Gladesman but a true pioneer of South Florida. He lived on Kirk Road in WPB and had a sign in the ditch advertising frog legs an...

This is Bonnie Basham, Marsh Rider editor. a couple of you know me.... I love reading these comments and recollections. I grew up on Lake Conway in the 50's. Re: Starter not engaging

Also, if you are using a starter button, the contacts inside the switch could be carboned up from low voltage. Try using a metal object to "jump" the terminals to see if it works like it should. If it does, you need another switch. If you possibly can safely, jump the starter at the soleno...

Re: Starter not engaging

What's the cure for a problem where the starter fails to engage the flywheel properly if the prop is at certain positions? Seems to be strong when it does engage. I don't see any obvious signs of wear on either the flywheel or the starter. If it does miss, simply turning the prop by hand a few degr...

Re: stop draining 3a

When I helped with the airplane recovery, there was only 10" of water over close to the Miccosukie res. The level here in 2A has been dropping and is now dropping fast. SFWM likes to play ping pong to watch the water bounce up and down. I know that the lakes in the Kissimmee Valley Basin was ho...

I'm not trying to change the subject at all. As a matter of fact, I'm loving every post of this political landslide. Every thing that I see now is positive instead of negative. No, he's right. If you aren't driving away with a boat in your rearview, you shouldn't be paying 100%. If the shoe fits, wear it but don't be offended. It is what it is. I'm not saying 100%. But why would a builder invest a large amount of money in an order and possibly get stuck with it? A builder...
