I would raise the motor at least up to level, redo the slick bottom with it heavy toward the rear. The back of the motor should be higher not lower.

If I remember right I removed the spring and boiled the rubber seal in water the b stretched it over the crank flange.

I would get the solid seal. I had the same problem 20 years ago on a 160.

I would just replace the seal.

If it won't stay I would get a solid unsplit seal , remove the spring, boil the seal in water, stretch it over the crank flange, put the spring back in and glue the seal to the case with weather strip adhesive . Make sure you let the adhesive cure completely .
