Information on airboat

Hello, I was watching a video and saw a airboat at the 2:00 point in the video. Anyone know of or have info on the boat. I would like to see if I can get more photos of the boat and who built it. Below is the link for the video. The boat I am looking at has a gentleman with a red tank top and a ball...

How far would you drive

Hello, I wanted to put this out to kinda get a idea of what is realistic for driving to work.

How far would you drive to work round trip for 11.00 to 12.00 dollars an hour?

Thanks,
Gary :old_glory:

Cooling

So I am wondering how the Lycoming and Continental aircraft engines keep from overheating on an airboat? With a pusher propeller how does the engine keep cool? Airplane configuration blows air over the engine.

Anyone care to share how all this works on a airboat?

Thanks

Rivet Information

So my question for the aluminum airboat hull builders using rivets. What type of rivets and rivet driver are you using? Have a company name for the products and information? I would appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,

John Fenner wrote:Ok, simple, rudder stick "Pittman" from fulcrum to hole for drag link attachment is 24"
Crows foot drag link attatchment hole shall be 12" from bottom rudder pivot and 90° to rudder.
Hence 2:1

Re: Let's talk steering geometry

I build my crow foot steering at 2:1 the drag link is bent upward at steering stick to allow further throw under bottom bar, then bend towards master rudder tends to allow a bit of clearance at full right turn. Cable steering also 2:1 just shorter Pittman throw and direct to center of rudder base i...

Re: Let's talk steering geometry

Like these. Drag link is curved up at steering link in one pic and in the other is straight. Sometimes I see in pics that the steering arm is bent forward.

Now were starting to get somewhere. Can you explain how or what determines the 2:1 on the crows foot? Very interesting.

Let's talk steering geometry

I see different steering setup on airboats, crows foot, dog leg, teleflex etc. I don't want this thread to be which is better over the other but the geometry that goes behind it all. I see steering sticks that are set up straight vortical, have a bend forward towards the bottom, and a bend to the re...

Re: Sacrilege?

Greg, don't put an LS on that boat, couple of reasons why as follows.....first off, I would rather have a sister in a ***** house than have a car motor on an original Thurman. Second......It is gonna be a big gamble on how well it will run, 12' boat and the length of that motor and gear box is goin...

Re: A few questions, need help

No. The plumb bob deal is to set the engine centerline directly over the hull centerline so the engine is 'square' in relation to the hull. The adjustment you reference is generally made by raising or lowering one end of the engine which will in effect alter the direction of the prop wash verticall...

Re: A few questions, need help

Thanks. So is their an sweet spot on the balancing of a full deck? Similar to a teeter totter being balanced? This would be with all the rigging?

Re: A few questions, need help

Ok thanks. In the case of a full deck hull. Once the hull has the decking on and one has to adjust the engine stand due to a porpoise issue or other issues (forward or aft), How is the adjustment done? The plumb bob method wouldn't work then?

A few questions, need help

A few questions I need your help. In the pictures below what are these guys doing with the plumb bobs? I know the hull should be level but what is this for? Does this have to do with adjusting the ride of the hull?

Thanks
