Re: 2.3 ch3 or 2.52 ch4 help

I am running a 4 blade 82" NGR with a 2:52 on a 700hp engine pitched at the 3 mark. I don't think that 82" with the short hub is enough prop for that engine.

Re: Light Bars on Grass Rake

Here are some pics of my LED light bar that I had Diamondback cut into the nose roll of the grass rake. Had one with the lexan in the rake step area but the lexan always held moisture in there. Never had an issue with heat. You can also buy those small round or rectangle vents to install on the back...

Re: Please chime in airboat people

The upper assembly is one of those things that can either happen right away the first time, or you can sit there and fight it for an hour. When you get it worked in you have to immediately put force behind it to get it to seat to the rear and put one of the top bolts in to hold it all at the same ti...

Re: AIRBOAT HELP

If you start out with a fairly new boat with a solid engine, then they aren't money pits. If you start with an old boat with a junkyard engine, they are.

Re: Please chime in airboat people

Shouldn't be any different that the regular beltdrive to change the belt. Your just have a bigger, heaver upper assembly to stab into the housing which is the hardest part of the job. A new stiff belt is tough to replace by yourself because they are usually shipped to you in an egg shape instead of ...

They use an Alumitech hull and rig it themselves calling it an Affliction Airboat.

Wetsounds, hands down makes the best marine audio equipment. I just installed a bluetooth sound bar by them that connects to my phone, has a built in amp and is plenty loud.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Dusty, since I'm slidin' in Texas, but always remember the entertaining posts he would be involved in here back in the day. It usually always involved a photoshop war that would go back and forth, and he would never give up. Along with his photoshop skills was his w...

Re: Do I need this hose on my cooling system

Why would Chevrolet ship the engine this way from the factory if you don't need it? If you have a nipple on the top of your radiator you can run that burp tank hose to that. Alumitech does connect their burp tank to the top nipple of the water pump. GTO doesn't use a burp tank, only an overflow tank...

Stick with a 78" three blade if you have room for it. Panther sells the marine crate engines as well.

He said he's not looking to spend 10K on a motor right now, hence the reason I would recommend the 454.

I wouldn't spend the money on a 454 that someone says has this and that. Spend it on a crate 454 with 425hp so you know what you are getting.

Re: Sbc or bbc

The LS motor is going to cost you alot more money in the end than a big block will with enough horsepowerr/torque to get the job done. Sounds to me like you are really trying to build this on a budget. With that being the case I'd go with a 454 425hp BBC. It's not the most ideal engine out there, bu...

Im with Shiggs on this. It does look like a Pathmaker, and the BBC or LS are the way to go with that hull. You can't go wrong for $1000. I'd still offer him $800.

Been following this thread from the start. Looking forward to seeing the finished boat. My new DB is at the painter right now as well. Mine was being built at DB the same time yours was, and I always checked to see if it were in the background of any of your pics. What did you change this time as fa...

With the Carter there is no need for a fuel pressure regulator.

Re: why do I have 2 fuel pumps??

No reason for two fuel pumps on your setup. Generally the aeromotives are much better than the Holleys. If you're looking to save money you could also go with the Carter fuel pump from Napa that half of the airboat companies install from the factory.

Re: Counter rotator build question

Keep in mind that that counter rotator drive unit is going to push everything a foot forward in the boat than a standard drive unit. With a 14 1/2 foot boat I wouldn't recommend going that route. You are also looking at a much heavier drive unit. It can be done, but it's not the ideal setup for a CR.

Coastline Trailers. They are a ways from you down on the coast in Seadrift, TX, but they build a nice trailer.

Re: Diamondback Demo at Thunder on the Loup

I notice that most of the the boats with the counter rotator that Diamondback are building they are using the narrow sabre blades instead of the wide blades with the CR. Is that just personal preference or are they performing that much better than the wide blades?

Re: ch3 too tight causing rumble?

You should have a little bit of flutter in the sound of the belt when you first start it. If it whines alot it is too tight. You can also move the tip of your prop back and forth and see how much play you have. About a 1/2 inch is acceptable. The looser the belt the more play you will have in the tip.
