Re: How much power to use superwide blades?

i am running 3 82" JX blades, 2.55 ox and my built LS3 stroker is just about right. any less HP and i would be lacking big time.

also if you did not change the pistons out on your LS do it now. Hyper pistons will not be happy in a boat :)

Re: Prop & Gear Box Ratio Recommendations

If you really have that much power, a 3 blade 82" jx will spin nice. Don't forget a colder thermostat 160deg. Hope you changed out the pistons out.

Re: 502 prop help

To much weight, not enough hp to pich and spin that warp drive. That motor is only 380hp and that's not a lot when you start talking about running dry. Might cost less to sell that motor and build one that will make enough power 550+ hp

Think you will need more hp to push a big boat like that. What rpm does your motor do now?

Re: Century ch3 Belt drive

I once made this switch, required a new lower pully. We ran the dished jw wheel and it all bolted up no problem. The new lower pully has a longer shaft 3/4" I think but don't quote me. The pilot hole on a ls crank is set back farther. You can run a spacer but i never have so not sure how good that w...

160 and the computer might not come out of open loop operation. Not sure how your computer was setup but you might be giving up some hp or throttle response Ps I run a 160 thermo and she runs 180 all the time. Definitely want the steam line in front linked to your expansion tank. The back ports are ...

Re: Circle h hulls Information

Mine is a battleship circle h hull and their quality and craftsmenship are excellent. So while I can't say how their small hiulls perform, I can say the big girl they built me is bad ass You want a hull that rides free, free = porpoising. Tune out the hop with either a trim tab, bending the back dow...

Re: new guy here vw powered catamaran Mini

Imho you went the wrong direction. Cat hulls were tried back in the Vietnam War days " google air cat" I would look at the dragonfly airboat for inspiration. Given what you want to do i think you might be in for disappointment. It takes a lot of power to run dry. Even over gravel and to push through...

17x8 hull with a 600hp ls3 2.55 ox and 3 blade jx. Runs dry and goes where i point it.

If you are getting a ls motor get it built right. They are easy to build over 550+hp.

Re: Engine help on a 16X8

My 17x8 has a stroked ls3 close to 600hp, spinning a 2.55 and a 3 blade jx. Its a big heavy boat but runs very very good :) Not saying the lsa is bad but you can make good power with a stroked ls3 or even better a stroked ls7 but then you get into more money. Turnkey engines built mine 4 years ago a...

Re: 496 lost oil somewhere and spun bearing

Only a few ways for oil to get out. If you were burning it you would have seen blue smioke. 6 quarts in one trip would be obvious. Pcv is needed and does more good than harm. A oil catch can help a lot. On tear down your intake will have a ton of oil coating the inside. Leaks can add up but that muc...

Re: Ugh! Box dilemma! HELP!

2.09 is under and 2.88 is over. You won't have enough hp to spin the jx with the 2.09. At 5100 rpm the prop will be maxed out but to even get it that high you will have to take all the pitch out. With the 2.88 at 6k the prop is only at 2085 rpm. Leaving quite a bit of thrust. 2.55 or 2.68 but don't ...

Re: Silent prop for drones.

Only the small drones use plastic props and trying to compete with china will only be pain and suffering. Plastic props are cheap. So the kv rating on motors is voltage x rating so the dji phantom has 960kv motors so with a 15v battery its about 14k rpm My big lifter hexacopter has 15"props and 380k...

Sounds like the bolts were seized up. Were they stainless? 35lbs is right don't over do it.

The jw wheels are way stronger and not a bad investment. Did the two plates fit with out bending?
