Re: north carolina
Hey guys, Recently moved to the Burlington area in NC from FL and until today I was pretty sure I was going to have to sell my boat due to not being able to use it. Now im not so sure that is the case. Are there still guys riding around here in NC? Any information or contacts would be appreciated. T...

dont get me wrong anything can fail but i know for a fact the straight crate gm motors are excellent and will run longer than most will ever own an airboat without any trouble and they make a real 430 horse not somebodies hokey bench dyno or thrust tester and ill agree the eco is a cool little moto...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?
If you set one of these up and wind up blowing it up a replacement would be cheap at that point right? Yes. Loudmouse will agree. Yea you can run the **** out of these and "blow" them up and it'll cost any range from 1200$ for a used or 3000$ for crate. Try replacing a water thunder. To s...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?
Dave Simpson use to run them. Blew 3 up and now is building an LS boat.... I think this is what I was looking for as for an answer. I understand anything can die but from car racing experience I figured the small 'CHEVY' engine will not take the long run abuse. :violent1: If tony knew anything abou...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?
Ok this is for both of you. 1) Cost of setting up the ecotec? 2) How much power does it put out? 3) Any issues with them yet? 4) How hot do they run under loads for long time periods? 5) How much fuel do they use while under heavy hard runs? Hi jeepinocala 1- cost is dependent on who you use for en...

Loudmouse, I'm sure it was you due to the lack of ecos running out there! Nice to know though for future reference. I can't wait to plan to come out and ride with you! I also just finished an 2.0 lnf build. PM me if you can. I don't remember your name. Obviously would like to call you something othe...

Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?
Was out for Father's Day weekend at the glen, and saw an Ecotec on a blue and silver fiberglass hull. Good looking boat, was wondering if anyone knows this person or if this person see's this could pm me. I have just completed my Ecotec build. Thought it was cool to see one out there.

Re: So, how many EcoTec builds are in progress right now?
I would give the Ecotech some more time to get the Bugs worked out of them. They are impressive packages but other than Russ's the other Iv seen are having issues. As to my understanding there are reasons that the other ecotec builds are having issues. One is due to poor tuning and too much boost w...

Re: New Build EcoTec Turbo 2.4 (First build want advice)
:proud: chuck your the man and bless you and your hard work in this air boating community I am sorry, I though if you were going to compare HP and Torque, you would also compare weight. Add a 100 lbs in the back of a boat makes it take more HP to get it on plane and keep it there. I also though cost...

Re: New Build EcoTec Turbo 2.4 (First build want advice)
I belie be there are reasons as to hey both terry and Dave Simpson have had issues... And it isn't "ecotecs can't hang or last". Both are using completely different platforms. Russ how many issues have you had? My good buddy just picked up a water thunder with 102 hrs on it and it blew a h...

Re: New Build EcoTec Turbo 2.4 (First build want advice)
Russ/John/Dave/Others, can't tell ya all how much I appreciate the discussion, it's opening my eyes to what I'm really taking on here with this build. In talking to those on this thread I've already realized I was way off base with some of my original assumptions. I spent about an hour on the phone...

Re: So, how many EcoTec builds are in progress right now?
Don't see what the caddy can do that the eco cannot...? I ride with a good buddy whos got a badass cady but it cant do anything that my old worn out 520 couldn't, and this ecotec should out perform my 520 without a doubt. johnC im excited to hear which route you take and what you choose for hull and...

Re: New Build EcoTec Turbo 2.4 (First build want advice)
there is no ecotec/gearbox combo that is gonna run away from an 0540 Disagree entirely here. Even a low hp 2.0 turbo ecotec will produce significantly more torque at the prop shafts with a 2.38 or 2.68 box. I have run both. Even 2.0:1 will produce more than an o540. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0...

So, how many EcoTec builds are in progress right now?
seems like the ecotecs are becoming more and more popular over time. only explanation to me is that people are liking what they are seeing? :stirpot: big power, small package, incomparable fuel economy? interested to see how many eco builds are currently in progress besides my own. mine should be cr...

Gotta love the haters! Apparently they cannot fathom the idea of something new becoming more and more popular. The initial cost is high but results are proven by these guys over and over again. Personally top speed is not a concern of mine but I know Terry's new build should be quick, and I've seen ...

Only a 74"?
I was suggested a 79-80" 3 blade for my 2.0???
My build is going so slowly it's almost not going! I wanted to be finished but that's not happening.
Glad to see you have momentum on the 2.4

Re: IRCAA Club Ride: 520 to Loughman this Saturday
Def. Not no 74 miles? I can make it from 520 to catfish in 30 minutes. So I would say Pacman is about right 1 1/2 hours maybe a little less. if you make a couple stops your looking at a solid 2 hour ride. but broken up and a nice ride. If you have a Gps and were wanting to get back quick and didn't...

This one is from AFI. I was under the assumption it had an OBDII port. Guess I need more help with this subject than I thought.
