Re: Lets talk about harmonics

No counterweights in my engine. I did not have them in the first one either. As far as I know the history of that one, it lasted about 25 years or more, and I cant say that the lack of them is what caused that engine to fail, but I also cant say that it wasn't. I asked the builder of my new engine a...

Re: Lets talk about harmonics

Slidin. I hate to sound like the dumb a$$ that I am, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at with your illustration. Could you tell me exactly what it is I am looking at and how it affects our motors?

Re: Lets talk about harmonics

Slidin. With what you said, would you think a 3 blade would be a better option than a 2 blade on a 6 cylinder? Also, would "indexing " the position of the prop be a good remedy to possibly helping the harmonics issue?

Re: Lets talk about harmonics

I have asked a couple prop manufacturers about it and one readily tried to answer my questions and said that they are working to try and help with the issue that people are experiencing. The other kind of blew it off as if it were not a real issue. I have tried quite a few props over the years and t...

Lets talk about harmonics

I'm hearing more and more about aircraft engines having issues with harmonics. Can someone please give me a good explanation of what it is and exactly what I should be looking/listening for. I have my engine (SV 540) rebuilt last year and really want to do what is best for my engine so it will be qu...

We lost another good one!

Sadly, we lost another asset to our community and to all that knew him. Andy Mathews (username...Andybo) passed away this past Tuesday night. Andy used to own the Nitro Express race boat back in the sanctioned race days. Great guy and friend that we all will miss.

I bet that will be close to where you want it. That is a good looking prop, but it would look better without that ugly shirt! LOL!

Re: Installing a prop on a 05 40 aircraft engine

Welcome! I run a SV 540 with 10:1 compression. Sounds like you want the same results as me....ground push over speed. I have tried numerous props over the years, and have settled with a 74" NGQ. Good luck, and keep us posted.

It is best to shut it down with fuel cut-off rather than with mags.

Was not specifically in the Res, but was in 3A South over the weekend. Went as far north as the tower (swimming hole) and there was plenty of water. Did not bump ideling in and out of the canal.

Re: I'm Building 2 Stossel Boats with High Torque Motors

While you had her apart, you should have put some air ride on that thing! I'm running a similar boat, and put air ride on a couple years ago. I didn't go full on like Dave Simpsons boats, but replaced the front hard connection points with adjustable air shocks and it takes that sharp jarring out of ...
