Re: Hard steering

Steering is very smooth with engine off. 1/2 to full is hard to steer. 10'' from blade, 30'' apart and they are 32''x 48'' airfoils. Wade at Hammit made the airfoils for me and at first you had to push the stick like heck to get it to go straght. He told me how to fix that problem by bending the tra...

Hard steering

I'm in Arkansas and have a boat that I bought and completed the restore on it. It is used in SAR for law enforcement. It has stick steer with a Telflex cable set up on it. There has got to be something wrong because with say half power on it is hard as hell to steer. What I mean by hard is if you ar...

Re: Steering problems.

Yes the rudders are centered with the prop. I think maybe should call Wade and ask him if he has ever had to put a tab on his airfoils. I still don't understand them turning to the left and there not hooked together. I just let them swing free just to see what they would do.

I'm sorry Charles. My steering is pull left and push for right. Thanks to everyone for their info. I will try the trim tab thing.

Re: Steering problems.

There is no trim tabs on the airfoils. I do remember my old rudders did have a tab on them. I checked the engine and it is straight. Do I just have a tab welded on these?

Re: Steering problems.

Yes it was that Wade. Great guy. Sorry I don't know what you mean by dog leg steering. A stick on the left of the driver and pull to go right and push for left.

Re: Steering problems.

What I don't understand is that when I just let them float free (not connected) they still pitch to the left.

Re: Steering problems.

Some months ago when I tore the boat down to rebuild the engine and paint the boat. I talked to and man named Wade I believe and he made me the airfoils. My old rudders were in really bad shape so I replaced them. I just bolted them right on.

Re: Steering problems.

They were just floating free but still with to the left about 30%. I'm in Arkansas and there is no one that I know of to ask what the heck am I doing wr...

Steering problems.

Happy New Years folks. I'm fairly new to the airboat thing. I replaced my rudders with airfoils while restoring my boat. Tried it out yesterday and at full engine rpm and its all you can do to hold the stick and go straight. I have to push the stick forward hard as heck to keep the boat straiught. K...

Hope someone can help me. I bought a 4 place Flyhawk intercom/ radio system. The unit has two male jacks one larger than the other that are meant to plug into a radio system. Chevy 454 engine.

I'm having my boat engine rebuild which is a Chevy 454. It had a remote oil cooler mounted where the oil filter would be screwed on and the cooler it's self was mounted on the engine cage with hoses ran to it from the engine. The oil filter that goes with this cooler kit is so small. It's the same s...

Will Rhino liner stick to Powder Coating

I just had my boat powder coated. There are a few places I wanted to have some Rhino or Line X on some high wear areas on the deck. I talked to the guy that does Rhino and he said it would not stick. I asked him what if I scuff it up first. He said it would need to be taken all off of the areas I wa...
