Re: Considering GO-480

I had no problems with my GSO once eric tuned it. It was on a fiberglass decked over step with slick bottom and I would cruise at a lot lower rpm then the larger boats and have a faster crusing speed but once eric.dialed her in I was burning 4-5 gallons per tach hour and that's including the occasio...

Re: GSO 480: I'm a newbie and need advice

These motors are power houses. But need the proper fuel set up to avoid any lean conditions that may cause cylinder failure. Ask questions as to who built it see what kinda fuel system it has. Etc fuel pump.carb or fuel injection. Oil pressure can vary esp now in cooler weather but u would like to s...

Re: Supercharger seal for 540???

Yup like milo said. There typically is a pipe plug on the intake tube and directly under the charger. But yes when u reassemble the charger u have to line up the X on the charger shaft and washer ring and spool that's to make sure everything is in alignment

Re: GSO540 fuel system

Running a big fuel pump is just a insurance policy is the way I look at it... I had a 7psi carter pump with all 3/8 lines on a gso480 and when I would stab the throttle my fuel psi would drop about 3-4psi. And when running dry for a period of time it would start running out of fuel. Now with the Ae...

Re: GSO540 fuel system

Thanks for the reply southernrican. Thats what I was noticing that the Aeromotive pump makes tons of pressure but is really only in the 95gph range, where I have found other pumps that still put out in that range of gph but operate at lower pressures. and might or might not require a by-pass reg. I...

Re: GSO540 fuel system

You are correct. These motors need volume not pressure. That in mind if u look for a high volume pump it also puts out a lot of pressure. Now what we run on ours are the aeromotive a1000 tied in with a return. Style aeromotive regulator. I have ran a high volume carter pump on mine that was 3/8 npt ...
