Re: first airboat

It's always good to go run a boat before you buy it. But, in some cases it may not be possible. Just take someone with you that has knowledge on airboats and A/C engines. Follow JeepIn's advice and definitely do a leak down. Run it long enough to make sure it doesn't get hot or start pissin oil ever...

Let's see some pics swamp parrot!

Morning wood; Not sure how big your cage is but i'd go with a 68'' or a 70'' 2 blade if it's in your budget. You'll be happier with the results.

With the bowl off, my needle was seating when pushing the float up but it did seem high. Hopefully i'll be able to pull it off tonight and adjust it. I'll be sure to let you know what i come up with. Thanks!

Re: 540 rough idle

I'll try and play with the float this week and see if i can get it right. I had the same problem with a Carter carb on my o290 but did'nt think anything about it.. I did notice whoever messed with the carb before i got the boat, they ran one of the spark arrestor bolts too far and busted the cap off...

540 rough idle

I have an angle valve 540 with an MA6-AA carburetor and i can't seem to get my idle right. It idles fine without shutting off, it just loads up and shakes real bad. At top end it seems to be doing great but once i give it throttle after it's been idling a minute or 2, it starts blowing black smoke a...

Re: Little help with 220 gpu

I'd definitley reset plug gap to about 25. Could be a fuel problem. But have you performed a leak down test? Could also be a valve seat popping in and out. I'm not so sure of that with the way you're explaining it though. I'd check fuel supply, air supply, do a leak down, then check your mag. Those ...

Re: Dynamarine revo

I've rode on Terry's boat with that 480. One of the best riding hulls i've been on. It's free and slides smooth. It seemed like once you got it in a slide, you could get out of it pretty easy. As for running dry ground, it's sturdy and did'nt have a problem running it. Not sure what powerplant you'r...

Re: 540 narrow deck angle valve

Some people say angle valves run hotter but i disagree. The cylinder temp may be a little different but oil temp is the same. I have a N/D angle valve and i'm happy with it. I'm not sure they are as popular as a wide deck or a straight valve but they will definitley get the job done. I was also told...

Re: Prop causing GPU to misfire????

This is just what my neighbor told me so I figured I'd ask to see what everyone else's opinion was. Supposedly the guy checked it out for him as any other airboat mechanic would. Leak down, carb clean, mags gone through, plug wires, new plugs, checked for intake leaks, ect. I don't want to put the n...

Prop causing GPU to misfire????

Well my neighbors son bought a dual mag 220 GPU not too long ago. He ran it quite a few times but he just was'nt happy with the performance. It ran rough sometimes and it seemed all over the place. He took it to a well known airboat builder to have the mags looked at. They were in time and would lay...

Re: Naked and afraid everglades

It was filmed around Everglades Adventures off of Evercane RD (835) before you get to the indian rezervation. A buddy of mine was the one who dropped Amber off on the jeep. I'm sure the permit came from them as well. It may not all be real, but it takes a certain kind of person to live in the woods ...

Re: Finally started my first build

I compression tested and did a leak down on the other 5 cylinders. They were fine. I pulled the cylinder off and it's toast. Got an overhauled cylinder, a new piston, rings and gaskets from Jernigan today. (Very good guys to deal with) Gonna put the cylinder on and replace all my intake tube hoses t...

Re: One Hell of a Ride

I had a similar situation happen to me several years back by a builder around the clewiston area that is no longer in business. Paid half the money up front over $7000 to use my old motor and build me a new boat with a new prop. He ran off with my money and several others, leaving my boat all torn ...

Re: One Hell of a Ride

Sorry about what's happening to you with your boat. If it's been a year and they have nothing to show for it and won't give you your money back, i personally would start getting all of my paper work together and go talk to a lawyer. First, i'd show back up at the shop and tell him if he don't make s...

Re: Finally started my first build

Here's a few pictures of our ride yesterday. Ended up riding from Clewiston to the camp in Lakeport. If they keep dropping the water in the lake, it's gonna get pretty nasty out their. Rocks are horrible but no one managed to bust any holes. If i did'nt have polymere i would be patching a boat this ...
