Re: Whites Performance Chevy 540 BBC

I didn't see any warranty on White performance page. I see that they're using howards lifters. I personally have broke link bars on comp cam and howards lifters. Call and talk with Mike at MAS he has 3 year warranty on his airboat motors. You need to run a GM style lifter or the rivet in the bar wil...

Re: LS fuel injection, Fitech Ultimate LS system

I've running a 800 mean street for 2 years now with the only problem being a data cord but it was from abuse from me. I Just installed an ultimate LS on a 5.3 I built for a jeep, I have yet to install the motor because i'm waiting on conversion parts for the jeep. I have worked on another FITECH whi...

Re: Need help with 454

In the picture you posted your motor seems to set kinda low in you hull, you could be losing some thrust there. It also looks like your engine and prop are tilted forward, this could be making you plow a bit. I thinks the best bang for your buck would be getting a 2:68 and a 4 blade set up. My boat ...

Re: Need help with 454

If your looking to run ground just bit the bullet and upgrade to a big cubic inch motor, 4 S blades and a larger reduction. Our boats with cabs on them really cut down on air flow to the prop so we are at a disadvantage already. I farted around with power upgrades on a 454 with my boat for a few yea...

Re: Need help with 454

How does the bottom of the hull look? If its flat or cupped you'll have problems running ground. It really helps to have a slight bow to the bottom so you can rock it slightly when it's on hard ground or concrete.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fif-30008 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-18688 I put the mean street on my 580 for about $1500 and am pretty happy with it. Easy to tune, no more dieseling but no real increase in fuel efficiency. I ran it all last year with no problems. My only complaint i...

Re: What prop, reduction to go with

Last year I swapped from 4 S blades to 3 using the same 2.67 to try and get the snap everyone talks about but was very disappointed. I couldn't really get any more pitch out of the 3 blade. After talking it over with sensenich they told me there #2 mark on the blade was the optimal pitch for the S b...

Re: 572 bbc reliability

I second inconel exhaust valves, when I built my 580 I was told that was the weakest link in the GM crate engines. I purposely built my engine and love it. I just broke 108 hours on it last month moose hunting, my boat is big and heavy and I haul a lot of weight on dry ground. I have my timing locke...

Re: Adding and extra 1/8" plate to my boats bottom

Thanks Gary, I called fasco this morning unfortunately they don't take credit cards. They were a great help and recommended me to use FASCO 26 EPOXY FAIRING COMPOUND to fill any voids and then use the flex steel over that to seal everything up. They also refereed me to one of there suppliers that ta...

Re: mid throttle vibration and hesitation

I had the same problem last hunting season after a bad rain storm. I pulled my year old S blades and brought them inside and let them dry by the fire place for a few days and the problem went away. I chased the problem for weeks, and only pulled the blades after another member suggested it. I never ...

I'll double check how much space I have between my T bar, I like your idea one Eye. I think I will add another jack plate near the rear of the boat i already have two, one mid way and another just forward of the fuel tank.

Re: Adding and extra 1/8" plate to my boats bottom

It's is a 18' silver dollar big heavy barge. For a 11 year old bottom it is not in that bad of shape, it was just time for new poly. The transom was the worst but I pushed the dents out with a porta power no problem. I was just thinking a little thicker material back there might help out. I don't re...

Adding and extra 1/8" plate to my boats bottom

So I'm replacing the Poly on my 04 silver dollar this winter. I just got all the old bolt holes welded up and all the dents out of the bottom that I could. I was thinking of welding a 6'X6' piece of 1/8" aluminum plate to the exciting 3/16 bottom in hopes to help stop rock damage. pretty much a...

Well I'll do a leak down test first before I tear into anything but I am changing out the intake anyways. Had a dart single plane intake made for the tall deck that I ran the first year I built it. Changed It out last year for a dual plane air gap hoping to drop my cruise RPM but I didn't see any ch...

AFR on an airboat?

I've read AFR should be 12.8 to 13 on an airboat is this correct? Should it stay in that range when the secondaries kick in? I have an autometer gauge which is plumbed in at the collector. My gauge bounces around .3 to .4 at a constant rpm is that normal? I've tuned a lot this year and want to get i...
