Re: Heck of a Party last weekend -- Lots of Trash left on KC

Thank you Dave, KRVSA and all that genuinely participated in the clean up effort. There are a few items of note. To say there were hundreds of boats translating to several hundreds of people on the KCOL this weekend is probably an understatement. The Broward club also had a clean up effort recently ...

Re: Prop wash

Yes there are occasions when it is unavoidable. In those cases the best option is to be aware of that and make apologies in advance which also gives the recipients time to prepare, stow gear, cover eyes or move themselves.

Re: Emergency fuel pump

Carry a spare gas can and a length of hose. If your metalwork allows strap it to the rigging higher than the carb. Prime the line and gravity/vacuum your way on. Once it starts it will run on it's own. Never go without a can. It's a fuel pump fix for carbuerated motors at least. It's a get home when...

Re: Trash around the Milk Bus.

Thanks to all who continue to have this concern. Shortly after the formation of the KRVSA one of the first things we did was organize what would become an annual lake clean up. For those who were there then you may recall that we filled the dumpster and then some. The KCOL had never before received ...

Re: kissimmee Clean up

Please keep in mind that the real winners and heros on this day are those that bring in the most trash and those that actively participate in the KRVSA function. Emphasis on this day should be reserved for giving back to a natural system we use and enjoy all year long and helping to build and mainta...

Re: Native plants: Naughty or nice?

Google Lygodium. Bonnie is close at old world which is a cousin to this plant. Expect the same results from both, eventual total ecological change if not controlled. This is a bad plant for sure and as a true fern spreads through tiny spores which may be wind or water born as well as carried by any ...

Re: riggin set up question?????????

If it's a hill boat you're looking for you're on the right track with the weight aft. With the redneck in your screen name I'm sure you have probably seen a tractor pull competition where the goal is to pull a weighted sled and the load transfers from the rear to the front of the sled as the tractor...

Jerry Renney style? Close, but the seat should be higher and farther back. My heels hit my mags. Still great to see another four cylinder boat.

I've worked for an aquatic weed control company my whole life(only job I've ever had) so on most days I operate a boat for a living and my list of stories has the potential to be lengthy. Now understand our work boats are nothing like my personal "hill boat" so I get plenty of practice at getting st...

It's really not that impressive because the miles add up faster than you think. In the woods you are often taking a meandering trail rather than a straight line. I've watched people at popular sites like the bus run more hill than they might think. If 20 boats are there and you just drive around the...

During the weekend of the Freedom Ride I brought a GPS with me for work reasons but while there I decided to trip check my ride. When I left the water and knew I would not see any for a while I reset the trip odometer. When I came out of the woods the odometer said 27 miles which is not hard to find...

Wet loading a boat is less abusive to the boat and the trailer when possible. When dry loading is the ONLY option it is easier on the boat and trailer if you back the trailer under the boat and then winch the last few feet. It is hard to break a boat or trailer with a winch but it is quite easy to d...
