Re: 1"carb spacer ??

To be honest, a 390 Holley 4V will perform much more efficient than the 500 2V, yes it will need the secondary metering plate kit, a set of 68 jets in the primary and around 70/72 In the secondary metering, more money but in the long run it will pay for itself in fuel and performance.

Achilles heel of these engines is the thrust bearing, they were never designed to spin a prop.

Use the numbers on the blades as a reference, go buy a husky digital level, fine tune the blades with it.

Re: TURNS LEFT NOT RIGHT

Start with basics first, is engine and drive centerline plumb to boat centerline? Next, let the rudders loose from cable or drag link, run engine up, do they favor one position from neutral? Meaning is the rudder stick pushing back to where you have to keep pressure on it to make it go straight? If ...

Re: Anyone have a standard GPU 220 CRANKSHAFT FOR SALE

They are about like hens teeth anymore, Steve at warrior aircraft may have one, why the need for a standard crank? If stroking it is reason, send a good .010/.010 crank to Len's crankshaft service and have it welded and offset ground.

Re: Pe 150

If cylinder bores are in good shape, a proper valve job, a set of 640518 pistons champhered at top edge to clear head crown, and a good mixture tuning of a 500 Holley at wide open throttle, minimal idle time to read plug colors, you would be impressed by the machine. PS: degree the cam about 8-10° a...

Re: Does the dark side really have cookies????

Are you trying to get away from the hunting avgas aspect of having an aircraft powered boat? If so, I would suggest a full retrofit to your aircraft engine to electronic fuel injection and ignition and run E85, very efficient and being a closed loop system, the fuel will not stagnate in the carb as ...

For what it's worth, that float assy is tin, it can be resoldered and put back in service if the need was emergency driven, but thanks to this great wealth of information and resources of a website you got it handled.

Re: Hull Taper

The older thurman hulls had heavy taper to drop the nose farther, those boats were built specifically to have a proper sized drawer on each side to haul a certain size package(s) that were extracted from certain areas back in the good ole boy days, wink wink.

Yes, I build mine with 5" of taper per side they tend to be on plane with a throttle blip, wider is better.
