.100" will give, .125" will tend to crack if hit hard enough.

Re: I'm Building 2 Stossel Boats with High Torque Motors

You will not regret the stossel hull, all were built with 7075 T-6 as any real boat should be, great hulls with many out there for over 30 years, welded hulls are way overrated but folks still buy them, not sure why.

Some flow too much, you can use a restrictor disc, I'd start with a 1" and go from there.

390 Holley with the secondary metering plate kit, start with 68 primary and 73 secondary jets as a baseline, tune from there, you have way too much cfm for vacuum secondaries to open on a DD application.

Not sure who you spoke to, but when Patti sees this, she will see to it to be corrected, I have all faith in WW products and I'd run those blades without question for what it's worth.

Re: Asking for opinions here

I'd suggest a 7'6" x 13'6" .090" deckover with .050" decks, a 2.68:1 gear with a solid built LS, waterthunder is the choice of best built in my opinion, and a whirlwind whisper tip 4 blade or better yet stump puller 80" air screw.

Re: 540 flywheel ring gear

Unless the flywheel lost its pinch fit diameter it will happen again, use some loctite flange compound or jb weld, or get a good flywheel.

Re: Rear heavy? Porpoising / hopping

Fine tuned many a hull with this method, had a step hull that plowed bad, rare occurence huh? Same type of pallet but thin and at rear of boat till transom was 1/8" off asphalt, it took 1/2" off step till it was right, reworked it and she hauled the mail!

Re: Yamaha ring free. Fuel additive

Interesting read, yeah, no chance of much carbon buildup in engines that are run mostly mid to full capacity, now, are you running rec 90 due to the down time "non use" of the airboat? Or for performance reasons?

Re: Rear heavy? Porpoising / hopping

You are going to think I am a hack with this suggestion, but it works, done it to several glass boats, including step hulls "different method with those" but same principle, with engine and rigging in place, get a pallet, wedge it under bow of boat to where it barely raises hull upward, th...

Re: Help setting mag timing

With capacitor and coil disconnected from points, a test light hooked to positive battery terminal and probe the point terminal till it just lights is good, a dvom is just as good if not better, no disconnect needed of coil etc.

Re: Help setting mag timing

Yes, rotate prop till keyway of the gear is aiming at center of case, you will see a beveled tooth, align the ccw dot of the distributor gear with it, the beveled tooth on the distributor gear shall line up with the center of the sight window at 25° tdc.

Not at all, if it has the plugged power valve, and 74 jets, a good intake plenum is key, it will run great.

Re: Need help figurung out what egine I have

When in doubt throttle out is great, always have reserve thrust when needed, learn the boat's characteristics, where it planes out, ride or cruise there or slightly above plane, feel it out in a prairie, find out how it responds to rudder control, set up a slollam course that you can maneuver withou...
