I live in Conroe. north of Houston.

Stay off the north end of Lake Conroe.

Everything north of 1096 is considered National Forest and has noise restriction.

MSD Box fried?

Thought my Perko was off while working on my distributor. I evidently grounded something because I now get no power to the coil.

There are no in-line fuses so is the box fried or is there an internal fuse?

Then you probably just never noticed.

Where was the glow? Up near the heads or down toward the collector?

Power shift - Power Plus series. 78" - 3 blade

About 3/16" of pitch left to stay within what is said to be optimum.

Reduction change

Currently running a 496, 2:1 reduction. Max push occurs at 4600 engine RPMs which matches the advertised max efficient prop RPM advertised by Water Walker. I am in what Water Walker says is the sweet range of prop adjustment but have some adjustment left. Question is, if I go to 2:3 reduction will I...

Re: ENGINE EXPERTS. What's your thoughts?

That is not your motor.

I run a 16' bowfishing rig with a 496 and 2:1 reduction, I have a good buddy on here running a like 16' with an LS on 2.3 reduction. If my motor blows I will build an LS.

Re: feeding a 454

Too small a carb and wrong timing set up.

Get a 750, jet it correctly, lock out all timing advance and start with timing in the 32-34 range and work up from there watching plugs and headers etc for signs of excessive cylinder temps.

Re: new motor deiseling wont shut off

Forget all the initial advance and vac advance, none of this has any place on an airboat. I will never understand why people are still doing this. Lock your distributer SOLID then set your timing at 33* at idle, you will lose one degree when you give it some gas because your dist will rise on he ca...

SBC making 450hp? I assure you this motor is going to want to spin some R's to make power. 2:1 wouldn't even be a consideration.

Gen IV 454 head bolts?

Getting mixed instructions. Some say thread sealant on bolts that enter the water jackets while others saw oil on the threads only.

What is suggested here?

My rig with Power Shift 3 blade does the same. At max rpm it won't even move on dry but knocked back to 2300rpm and she will climb most anything.
