Re: Weight of airboat please.
Yes Cactus, having no passenger on the front helps of course but the pass. seat is not too far forward. You ask about how it goes on skinny water??? What skinny water..I would love to find some but don't plan to go 1500 miles north to croc country and get eaten so we have to play around on rivers an...

Re: Weight of airboat please.
Yes Cactus. Our boat ,"Didgeridoo" is the one you saw at Landsborough. We plan a trip down to South Australia later this year so I want to get her going really well for that big trip. About 2500 miles probably. Like an Airboat Roadtrip with our little Toyota Coaster Motorhome towing "...

Re: Weight of airboat please.
Hi guys. Kate is trying to attach a pic of 'Didgeredo" showing it running ok. Problem is when I try to go faster, the nose sinks to horizontal , especially when the front seat is occupied. I think the drag of the hull in the water is the problem. Allan...PS. G,day to you and Cindy, Jack and you...

Weight of airboat please.
I think my Aluminium 11ft 6" by 6ft 3" deckover with it's 4cyl. Subaru car engine is too heavy at 880 lbs. Was wondering what other Minnies about this size weigh..Our boat cruises ok but if I try to go too fast the nose digs in a bit. It is like the water friction gets too great and the hi...

Hi Fireblue,... Whereabouts are you? I am in Stanthorpe in Southern QLD. with a 2 seat Subaru Powered Minnie Airboat that we built 2 years ago. Have to travel a bit to find water though! Look up my last post for a picture. Wish mine was SS as I enjoy the waterways around the NSW Northern Rivers...Mo...

Re: I'm going to try and introduce airboating to South-Afric
Hi Nardus, I am from Australia, don't have any of your great qualifications, am old and worn out, half brain dead, live away from big cities on a little Hobby Farm, but, with the help from this Mob on Southern Airboat I was able to build a Mini with a Subaru car engine that skids along the water jus...

Re: Alternator and Electrical Question
Regarding the Oil leak problem, cold oil is thicker meaning higher oil pressure at the oil pump till it warms up. Possibly the problem but as it does not get that cold down here someone up your way would know more about whether it's a pressure leak or just a gasget leaking... Aussie Allan

Re: will this engine type work with ?
Hi Portabelo In my opinion those VW Golf engines are water cooled (so you would need a radiator full of coolant which is heavy) and they probably rev at 4000 to 5000 revs (far too fast for a prop to spin so you would need a reduction box) more weight and cost. I run a Subaru engine with Gearbox and ...

Re: tork roll
To check my tourque roll I sat on the boat with a spirit level while it was on the trailer and revved her up as I watched the bubble. There was hardly any movement (trailer springs too strong???) but it just showed which way it wanted to roll. In the water, tied to a wharf, may work OK. You would so...

Re: Question on Tourque Roll
Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. What I did to verify what you are saying was correct was this. While on the trailer I revved her up and watched the bubble on my level expecting the Tourque Roll to cause the trailer springs to sag on the left but there was no twisting in either direction. Maybe my t...

Question on Tourque Roll
If I stand behind my boat and look at the Subaru engine's flywheel, it turns Anti Clockwise, so the Tourque Roll would be to the opposite, Clockwise..right,...but I have a reduction box with two cogs so the prop is going the opposite way to the engine...It goes Clockwise. So the question is this, is...

Re: The scammers are at it again! Seller beware
Scammers are a pain. I am an Aussie trying to buy a Motorhome on the west coast but a lot of the sellers don't want to know me as I am from overseas so they think I am a scammer so won't reply to e-mails. Last time I looked out the window I saw Kangaroos, not Elephants. Grrrr. Aussie Allan.... ps.. ...

Good info,... Good photo's...Thanks. Could it be a good idea to have the middle runner on your trailer also adjusted to suit the belly shape????? Otherwise you might bounce along on a high spot.

First time I had seen an Airboat. I remember the guns were Tommy Guns with the round magazines. God I loved that M...
