Airboat Cages

Does anyone know of a shop/person in the Central Texas area that is capable of bending hoops for a cage build at a reasonable price. Or what would be the most desireable way to make some yourself? :fishing :violent1:

Re: Changing Out CH-2 to CH-3 2.3 to 1 Ratio Century Belt Dr

Century is a good company to work with. They had mentioned I could do what I had in mind with the belt box but for liability reasons on their behalf they suggested I not do it...

Re: Changing Out CH-2 to CH-3 2.3 to 1 Ratio Century Belt Dr

Century does not make a 2.3 to 1 pulley for a CH-2 belt drive, it is only interchangeable with the CH-3.

Changing Out CH-2 to CH-3 2.3 to 1 Ratio Century Belt Drive?

I am throwing out the old CH-2 2 to 1 ratio and replacing it with a CH-3 2.3 to 1 ratio belt box. Supposedly the housing is slightly larger(sits 1" further back) than the CH-2 and the mounting bolts to the engine stand are 3/4" further back than the CH-2. Without cutting up the engine stand to reali...

Re: Starters Heating Up!!!!

Positive and negative cables are similar to what would be in a truck. Not sure of the exact thickness but it is somewhere around 2 gage im assuming. Cables are no longer than 5 feet. Seem many airboats set up like this. Purchased from oriellys.

Re: Starters Heating Up!!!!

Right now the ground connects to the frame which goes straight to the battery on the same ground stud. Would assume it should do the same job. And when starting you see a 2-3 volt drop at times at the starter,or should i say on the old starters when they were sluggish. The new one doesnt drop much b...

Starters Heating Up!!!!

I have a chevrolet 383 stroker with headers. I have used oem starters and mini high torque after market starters. After a few good weekends of running the starter gets quite sluggish and doesnt want to crank the motor as if it was a bad battery or poor connection, but its neither of those issues. Wi...

Automotive Engine Dieseling

I know this topic has been brought up before but I would like to hear some new ideas. My engine should be running a higher octane fuel but due to the cost of fuel these days I run a lower octane. $$$$$ adds up. The engine is timed correctly and we usually have to let the engine cool a bit after a ha...

Re: Front Steering????

Ya, most places are charging quite a bit of $$$$$$ for setups. I as well as most other people on here have the resources to build a setup but I was trying to get some pics or a breakdown of what people are using. I haven't seen anything up close or in person to get any ideas how to setup an applicat...

Re: HELP! Airboat Plowing

Well here's the finished product. All the information and pictures helped with this repair......Shimmed the belt box up with Three 1/4in washers on both sides of the belt box and can probably use one more. Built 4 braces and installed 3 of them for the time being. These things helped out tremendousl...

Re: HELP! Airboat Plowing

Well pulled out the old straight edge and laid it across the TBars on the inside of the hull a couple inches off the back of the transom and worked my way forward to the back of the gas tank under the engine. There is 5 TBars in the bottom of the boat. The 3 that run down the center of the boat are ...

Does anyone have any good photos of hull jacks???? And materials used to make one???? Sounds like the hull could use some adjusting and the motor some shimming at the rear.

HELP! Airboat Plowing

Just stepped up to a 383 stroker with aluminum heads, so I reduced some weight. The boat has a lot more top end now and seems to be plowing more than what it was compared to the 350 that was originally on there. Plowing bad enough to really slow the boat down and splash water over the rake. There is...

I think we are making this harder than it should be Jason... :banghead: Someone out there has to have done this already or knows a manufacturer that makes an alike pulley or knows someone who can make one.... But, we will try it out on your boat first so that when you blow it up you have a reason to...

Re: Is It Gonna Make A Diffrence?!?!?!

Makes sense. Well would it be better to change out to wider blades at the same length if they are even manufactured by someone or go to a 4 blade and keep the blades I have and add 1?? Im limited on the blade length due to the cage and will be putting a larger motor on in the future and don't want t...

Re: Is It Gonna Make A Diffrence?!?!?!

Not close to being over pitched (23 deg roughly) but the cam that's in the motor was designed for low to mid range power and not top end.
