Re: Neils WaterThunder DD

Nice work. Who built the fulldeck it's sitting on? Is that a standard built hull or is it skinned thin for weight?

Re: No see em bug spray

There's this stuff called "Swamp Gator" in a yellow spray bottle. At first I thought it was some hippie crap, and it burns like hell when you put it on (alcohol) but it has no DEET and it works. Store owner swore by it. It repels Skeeters, ticks, yellow biting flies (those big ones), gnats, chiggers...

I just looked you up: Tallahassee. Guess they are all over now. When are they going to open a season? One stalking my kids playset is one too many.

Re: Panther Problems

Called the FWC when they first started showing up last year and they told me I was crazy and that I wasn't seeing panthers. I told them I'd shoot one next time it came in my yard to prove it and they admitted they had cats in the area they were "monitoring" and to not shoot them. So they definitely ...

Panther Problems

I have a panther that frequently visits my back yard. Wouldn't be a huge deal except that it seems to be stalkin my kids playset and the house. I've tried spreading various things around my acreage at the suggestion of the feed store in town, including dried and shredded datil peppers. Nothing works...

Re: Interested in joining the ECOTEC family... Where to begi

I am no expert on ecotechs, but I do know I can buy a lot of motor for $8500, and make a lot more than 350 hp. A 500 horse 383 runs about 6K, crate with a warranty. A waterthunder iron block is 8K last time I priced it. I understand they are apples and oranges and that fuel consumption is different....

They have larger sheets?

Need New Sheet Aluminum Supplier

I need a new source for sheet aluminum, because I'm done paying Ryerson prices. I'm willing to drive for bulk at decent prices. I'm looking for 7075-T6, 6061-T6, and 2024, all ALCAD, all per the ALCOA spec. sheets. Not looking for junk someone ripped off another hull or salvaged: everything needs to...

WOW! 9' Beam... can you legally trailer that down the highway without a permit? VERY nice rig. I bet that thing will move. What's the draft and do you plan on building more? Do you offer them with a narrower beam (say 8 foot)? Does it have options for a tunnel and hydraulic jack plate?

Re: Machinest tooling question/help needed

Gold, I'm using the wrong description I think. The puller I'm talking about has a plate that seperates in two halves and is put together by two captive screws. Kind of like a doughnut cut in half. Maybe it's called a shaft puller. Anyway, if your arbor is like mine, it should have multiple or steppe...

Re: Machinest tooling question/help needed

Even if you didn't have it filled with oil, I wouldn't throw flame/heat on a mill or lathe component. I've cracked some components applying torque or tension after the heatup/cool down. Just my opinion. It might work but might not be the best. Expensive tool. I'm not sure what your setup looks like....

Re: Panther killed in Big Cypress

My sister did a school project on panthers. The amount of land fwc claims they need compared to how many panthers they claim we have is more than the entire state of Florida, even if you filled in all the water and took away all the houses. Then they say they want more cats. They bring In cougars t...

Lariat,

Francis Taylor boats are one of the original glades full decks made.

If it's a real Taylor, it's old and needs to be looked at very carefully.

Re: New Scorpion DD, WaterThunder powered boat

I think this is a pretty cool project. Open some peoples eyes to what actually can be accomplished by the average guy for a LOT less money then what some of these new rigs are costing.

Waterthunder, if possible, could you give us estimated overall cost once the project is complete?

Re: New Hamant/ WaterThunder DD boat

Waterthunder, I'm pretty interested in this setup. You say it took over pitching your prop to get your boat to stick... are you running thrust sufficient to run dry normally without NOS? Is it close to the thrust of an 0540? I saw a couple youtube videos and was amazed- never seen a DD run like that...

Do you know if anyone kept his pattern after his passing? Just wondering if anyone down south is still doing his hull with a stainless wrap on the bottom.

Never used salt away. Not to be over-simplistic, but just use dish soap and water. Look, if it makes your plates clean enough to eat off of it makes your boat clean enough.

Re: New boat build for Anvil

How does the riveted hull hold up in salt water? Riveted hulls hold up fine as long as the rivets and the hull are made of the same material. Two dissimilar metals in an electrolytic solution (33,000 ppm saltwater) spells galvanic corrosion. That hull is probably 7075T6 .100 skin on the bottom and ...
